Because of trees round our property, I've always had problems getting any signal past 22W....

However, we've now reached the point where we can contract a tree surgeon to do the work.. This afternoon he felled the tall fir trees on the westerly edge of the property, which has provided me with access to 30W and anything else more westerly that's receivable...

The fir trunks and branches aren't any good to us due to the excessive tar build up in the chimney. However one of the guys has a short flue (not him personally) and can use them, so we are letting him take some. We got some home grown salad and potatoes with some goose eggs as a thank you this morning. Some of the larger trunks we are keeping to make planters/bedding areas round the garden. There is also a good stock of cherry and ash large branches (some ash rounds up to 60cm in diameter) for the log burner which I can cut and season till next year. Though the ash can be used this coming winter...

Well, the trees on the southern edge of our property, looked like this :

Now our view south looks like this :

The ash tree (which is just about due south) will be staying but is to be reduced in height and 'spindly branches'. There's also the not inconsiderable piles of chippings to dispose of and the fir logs...
