Hello

Just trying to gauge opinion, i saw a triax 80cm dish + tecnomate diseq motor & wall mount for around £130 on satelitte superstore..is this about right price wise ?? and is this kit any good..

I am tring to recieve hotbird 13e eutelsat 16e & astra 28e so figured this would be betterer :) than one dish with 3 lnb,s

Fairly new to this game so trying to temper my enthusiasm til i know whats what.

Currently got an old sky dish with an eliptical 65 cm dish if i swivel it around would this pick up hotbird as well ??.

Thanks in advance

Indeed it would just swivel it round 15 degrees West, you may need to elevate the dish a tad to get it spot on if you have easy access as Hotbird is slightly higher on your arc than 28.2 East.

Try the forum sponsors for your dish and motor

For execellent results on W2 16e, a FR Penta 85cm will perform out standing on a motor.

SM :)

Thanks for earlier replies, So i had a fiddle:):) with my dish
and can only get astra 19,2 & 28.2 there is a group of trees
with a gap big enough for astra but nothing else (presumbly):confused

Does this mean i have to get a biger dish or mount it higher or both ?:confused

I know its kinda hard without seeing the actual site but the trees
are at the end of the100ft garden and they are at least 100ft tall
at the mo they are leafless

Detection method is a bit crude ie use the signal meter and tone built in to the reciever select hotbird and twiddle the dish whilst listening via a set of cordles phones:):) basic i know but works ok for astra.

Hooray so i am back again
after a small break and now have....

A Comag SL1000HD reciever- Triax 60cm dish with 4 lnb setup and

a 4 way DISEQ switch.

Original plan was 16e/13e/19.2e/28.2
both Astras are fine as is Hotbird but Eutlesat is just to close to Hotbird

on the LNB, which means (i guess) smaller narrow focus lnb,s to sit

closer together. The dish is centred on 19.2 and the Hotbird LNB

currently gets some (but not all) Eutlesat channels.

I also now need to get Atlantic Bird 3.0w on the same dish

is this a sat to far ???.

Do you mean Atlantic bird 3 at 5W? You might be able to do it, but 24 degrees off centre may be a little optimistic.

Well either that, or a second dish, a Sky minidish with doctored LNB (need to reverse the skew angle) would do it.

In practice, no need to doctor at all - SWMBO has a toydish for AB3 and I left the Skew angle at the minimum possible for the Sky LNB: It provides perfect results, probably due to the massive strength of AB3 in the UK allowing greater margin for wild Skew errors! :D

Funny you should mention Hispasat, as my Tree problems have stopped me getting this - EVER.

But I have a cunning plan brewing ................. One not involving Chain Saws

It's still brewing .......... but I couldn't explain properly without giving you reams of topographical data and insights into the sensitivities of certain people in my village :-duel

Oh, and a bit of subterfuge is going to be required.
