TRIAX TD78 with flexiblock 19.2 / 13

Hello,

I want to set up a dual lnb Triax dish for Astra 19.2 and Hotbird 13. I already have the Triax Flexiblock bracket, but I am unsure of the settings for Manchester. The booklet that comes with the flexiblock only lists the 28.2 and 19.2 combination for the UK, and 19.2 and 13 for europe. Has anyone used this and could give me the settings that would work ?. I was also wondering if I could use a TD64 (smaller dish) rather than a TD78 and be okay ?

Start off with the settings for europe and adjust if necessary.


13E and 19E can be got on a TD64 with single LNBs, but you may have probs further north, and with quads, getting them close enough together. Play it safe with a TD78.

Also since both of those sats are very strong, and a TD78 dish used, you could use Zinwell Sky quad LNBs from ebay, and save a packet on LNB costs. Any LNB performance degradation due to the wrong feed shape would be insignificant.

I didn't realise that the Sky type lnbs could be used on a Triax dish and flexiblock. I thought that they had a special preset skew internally that would only work properly on sky type dishes. This does make me think, is there a particular shape of zinwell I should go for to avoid the bulk at the back of the lnb and will there be any problems using different lnb types on a technomate 4 way diseqc switch. ( I have a Triax TD88 at the back of the house for hispasat using a titanium lnb )

Yes Sky lnbs can be used, they have preseted nodges that the lnb clicks into. The thinnest lnb's the better check the specs, no problems using different lnbs on diseq switch they all do the same thing.
 
The latest MK4 zinwell quads have a nice long neck, they just need approx 6-7 layers of black tape around the neck for a snug like fit into the Triax holder. Since you only want 2, the skew wont be a problem as both skews will be roughly the same anyway.

N.B using Sky quads in this way is only really suitable when the sig from the sat is strong anyway, with weaker sats like 1W, 16E, 26E, 23.5E German beam etc, the slightly poorer performance will be noticeable. Good for 9E too by the way, and 28E of course.
