Turksat 4A Ka Band A now active

Some time back I substituted a Ku lnb for the SL3 to get rough positioning for 42 East ..and stored this position in the Gbox ..
So I'm fairly sure the SL3 is now pointing at 42 East ...but maybe be clipping the Troublesome Tree and as a result may not be getting maximum signal..
That said I'm 99% sure this peak which appears in a scan of Ka band A in both H and V .....is therefore a circular polarised Carrier ...
No way of course I can tell if RHCP or LHCP ...
Nonetheless I'm thinking this is from Turksat 4A (18600 approx.)
Turksat 4A also has a transponder in Ka band B but no sign of anything in this higher band as yet..
Time will tell I guess ..
As to possible signal levels ..
Having looked at the footprint ...of 4A in Ka I believe it _does_ extend to reach the UK albeit fringe..

fully functional atm with this transponder ..
and with broadcast data ..

...and that was a problem for me ..as I couldn't see 50 East with Carl ..
I had to wait till 4a moved to final location to clear my troublesome tree..

Almost certainly the first Niger channel to be carried in Ka!

Indeed AS ..you are probably right ...
but I do wonder if the Ka A transponder will eventually be used for data ??
Dull indeed if this is the case ...but She does carry at least one transponder for Ka B so fingers crossed this will be data leaving the current one for interesting DXing.

The 'test' broadcast at 18669 appears t0 have ceased in the last hour..
I'll check in ocasionally to see ...but I suspec this area of the spectrum is being prepared for data broadcast..

I would need to put the LNB on the Gibby, but with my luck it'll have gone by then. Perhaps you could check it over a period VS, to see if it remains on?

Yup, have that one at 18668 VS. A whopping 12dB.

New it was a big signal and 12db is huge..but Carl has this one partly masked by the TT..so the most I get is 10db.

We knew it was circular but both of us are using linear lnbs ..so guesswork as to RHCP or LHCP..
