Hi All,

Not sure if its the right forum to post this but this is the main result I get in my every query in search engines and therefore I am posting here.

A few friend of mine is working on a deal to launch a local TV channel with SKY where most of the content is be provided to us from a parent TV channel in a different country(we are working on the legal paper works). We are negotiating a 5 year contract with BT to give us high speed internet connection. We will have a soft playout system. My knowledge in this matter is very low and before I appoint any consultant I need to know few bits about it. Does anyone have any idea on how a TV station sends their video files to SKY networks for it to broadcast? Any useful link or book will be much appreciated.
 
We are a hobby level forum, and you need to talk to folks who do this sort of thing routinely. Try the uplink companies RRSat or Arqiva - if they cant/wont answer your question then they may be able to at least point you in the right direction.

Another worthwhile contact is Information TV - they act as an incubator for small channels and help them grow towards a full launch. You may be able to get some transmission time on one of their channels to get you up and running.
