Hello all! Long time no see! A question here, Ive been asked by a belgian client to put him TV Vlaanderen on at his villa, and this broadcasts from both 19º and 23.5º, correct? Now with one dish thats not a problem, we just stick him on a duo LNB and away we go, but a duo would sent one cable down to a switch to choose between satellites, and one cable would go to the box. Now that would be great, however he told me he has the recording version of the TV Vlaanderen box, which means he needs 2 cables. How would I go about getting 2 cables from a single satellite dish with a duo lnb and a switch? Do they make a duo LNB with multiple outputs? Ive never seen such an animal?

Surely the best solution would be two dishes? And a dual LNB for the 19º for
TV Vlaanderen? And a second dish for the extra channels from 23.5º? What do you guys think? How would you go about this?

What we have to work with at the moment is a 1.3m dish from previous british owners, and a recording
TV Vlaanderen box.

Teach me!
:confused

Should be fun trying to get hold of that out here in Spain on short notice. Thanks Rolf

Do you think Ill have any trouble fitting this to a 1.3m dish? Isnt the optimum size for a duo LNB 80cm?:confused

Not sure what you'd need on a 1.3m, possibly a 6 degree monobloc would do it, best to use two LNBs and an offset bracket.

What do you think would be the correct dish size for a normal duo? Perhaps its not doable on a 1.3m, which is what I am most worried about.

Why do they use both satellites anyway? :) Thanks for your help Rolf :D

At the moment only 5 Belgian HD channels are carried on 23.5E

As to why they use both - well for a long time 19E was just about full with no capacity left, so 23.5E was opened up with the idea of making it a Benelux "hotspot"

I believe that they are optimised for 80cm dishes. They can be used on 60cm dishes as 60cm dishes have a fairly wide acceptance lobe but as you go bigger then, of course, the acceptance angle becomes narrower.

So, I reckon you're right to worry. I think Rolf is right and you'll have to use a bracket and separate LNBs.

Right, today I was sold by the wholesaler, a Duo LNB for hotbird13 and Astra19, and was told that would work fine for the 1.3m dish. To be on the safe side, I have also bought a 80cm dish, and if I fail to get it to work on the 1.3m, ill stick the 80cm up and see what I get. Wish me luck! Im doing the job on the 26th, so Ill let you know then, but do you guys think it will work? A higher degree separation and a 1.3m? I think thats what Rolf suggested on the first answer on the post.

Don't you need a lnb that's for 19&23e, the 6 degree one won't work ?

In theory yes, but because I am using a bigger 1.3m dish, as opposed to the 80cm, It needs more degrees of separation I beleive, or at least thats what Rolf said.

If it fails Rolf, Its on you!:)

Only one week to go now and we shall find out!

On a semi related note, I just fitted a duo LNB on astra 19 and 23 for Canal Digitaal Netherlands, and managed to get most of 23º no problem, however he is missing the Sport1 live HD channels, which are on a higher 12350(approx) freq. We are using a 80cm dish in the very far right bottom of Spain, in Cadiz. I think he needs a 1m dish, or perhaps even a 1.3m. Ive looked at the footprints for Astra 23º and thats more or less recommended. Does anyone else know anything about this? And I suppose the same would apply, a larger degree of separation on the monoblock.

Its just I was amazed to JUST about pick up NED1 HD off Astra 23º but didnt even get a whiff of Sport1. What do you guys think?

Where is your dish pointing? I would make 23E the primary satellite and the 19E offset as 19E is stronger in Spain - you might get away with a smaller dish then.
