I have two of these dishes, but will sell separately if required.

These are LARGE at 1.8 metres diameter, solid spun aluminium satellite dishes powdercoated white. (these are what you needed to pick up Satellite TV channels in the UK in the 1980's, before SKY!).

The surface has no significant dents and they are true, so could be used to receive satellite signals today, with the addition of a Feed and LNB.

Ideal for Satellite enthusiasts wanting to pick up weak or edge of footprint satellites.

Alternatively, I thought they might be of interest to a Contemporary Sculptor to make into an installation piece; or could be used as a very large lampshade; or a roof to a gazebo; the uses are endless!!

May even suit a satellite TV shop to be used as an eye-catching advertising sign!!

Each dish comes with 3 feed support arms but NO feed. A couple of the holes in the dish where the feed support arms bolt through have 'torn' slightly, but a large washer would cure any that can't be reshaped sufficiently.

The dishes have been stored outside for some years and so will need a very good clean; but no rust, as they are all aluminium! The support rings on the back are also aluminium, and the inner one has three threaded inserts for mounting.

Each dish comes with an adjustable ground stand made from heavy duty galvanised angle steel. Unfortunately most of the bolts for the ground stand have disappeared, but they are only about M12 size.

There is also one Polarmount mount with locking arm to allow it to be set up to track the Clarke belt. It would be relatively easy to motorise this with a suitable motorised actuator jack (not included). Some additional brackets/metal bars will be needed to fix this to a dish, and it will require a large diameter 4"-6" vertical pole to mount the polarmount onto.

There may be a few bolts missing for the feed arms, I'm not sure, but they're easy enough to source elsewhere if you find some missing.

BECAUSE OF THE SIZE THESE MUST BE COLLECTED (you 'can' get one on the roof rack of an estate car, but I wouldn't recommend it - a van or pick-up would be better!). Location is near Maidstone, Kent.

£75 per dish in cash, on collection, please; plus £15 for the polarmount.

Are there any manufactures labels or branding on the dishes? By the sound of the inner mounting ring with the 3 fixing points they could be "Precision" prime focus dishes.

If you could post up some pics of the front, rear and side of the dishes it would help. Also, what is the distance between the 3 fixing points on the inner ring at the rear? The distances may all be equal or 2 equal.

I have spare feedhorns plus customised mounting plates for a Jaeger 1224EL motor if they are "Precision" so would be interested in both of them.

Pics awaited by all interested parties

Thx

I think these were advertised on ebay, and if they are the same ones, then they are Precision.

Hi all, sorry have been away this weekend!
I did try to post up pics on Friday but the post doesn't seem to have made it :-doh2

Pics can be found at _http://picasaweb.google.com/helluvaname/ForSale#

They are indeed Precision Antennas (and I had a buyer on Ebay who failed to pay, so thought I'd try here instead!).

The 3 fixings on the rings are 2 the same distance apart, and one slightly different, but I'd have to measure them tomorrow if you need to know the dimensions.

HTH :)

Well, if no one wants to buy them here then I'll have to sell them as scrap, which seems a shame O-no

Hi, In the original post I said that there weren't any feedhorns, however I have since found a feed, OMT, and two LNB's for each one!

There's no make/model visible on the LNB's so no idea what spec they are, but any WR75 LNB's should fit the OMT.

Prices in first post still stand, but now include the feed/OMT/LNB's!

OK, thanks for looking, but as there's no firm interest I'll have to weigh them for scrap :-(

The polarmount is an Irte version, and would require an adapter to fit onto the Precision dish face.

Still a bargain though, unfortunately I doubt I could get to you before the weekend.

Hi Channel Hopper, I'm sure you're right about the polarmount, I think it was fitted to onwe of the dishes at some point, using a simple piece of metal steel angle.

Crossbones is having one of the dishes (if we can sort out the logistics!) but if you're interested in the other one, and can collect sometime before Christmas, then let me know :)

Well, my house is more or less on the way to South Wales ;)

But I do have a van large enough to collect.

Will converse with Crossbones this week to arrange

Regards
