Ig I901 is going EOL in just over 6 months time do we know what (if anything) is likely to be replacing it?

MEV1 should tow I901 back up to graveyard orbit, disconnect & abandon 901 then go onwards to a new rescue mission

Thanks for asking, but my situation is more complicated because my passion for reception has caught me in the flat where I live, i.e., in the apartment block. I had to limit myself to a "proper" antenna in the analog days for physical, administrative, and regulatory reasons.
The passion for reception came along without my having proposed it, just because I had to find a solution to install the antenna myself. And where you think it will amuse you, even on the balcony. I was not allowed anywhere else, plus I could not install a bigger antenna, physically speaking, on the balcony except at the risk of collapsing under pressure and weather. Under my balcony, there is a lot of traffic, so I had to consider safety, not so much for the antenna, but to avoid human accidents caused by a possible fall.
I won't go into details; it's too complicated because it depends on my living conditions and biography. Which I don't think anyone is interested in and is a whole other story.
But what I can say is that such a passion, I realized along the way, requires other living conditions, first of all, physical space, where you can be a master without affecting the existence of others. I mean in a house with a yard.
And because I don't have one, it's a bitter irony to discover that this passion doesn't fit the physical conditions in which I live. Perhaps this handicap has made me pay attention to reception details that others with large antennas do not seriously consider, i.e., how the signal behaves on one satellite or another, how it manifests itself over a year, etc.
But to cut a long story short, given the conditions described, I would say that, having learned satellite reception techniques along the way, I feel like a professional working with amateur dishes.
But even if I have such frustrations, I console myself, perhaps a delusion, that my results are close to those of some amateurs with larger antennas. Or, as an editor of a magazine about satellites and reception, where I publish articles and reviews, told me that it is not the size of the antenna that counts but the results.
I hope you'll excuse me for talking too much when I could have got away with a dodge.
Regards.

intelsat 901 end of life is predicted on first quarter 2024 , some members reported issues on C-Band TPs too
Have you a source for this? Looking at the Satbeams profile for this satellite with the MEV in place, it's expected to be okay until Q2/Q3 in 2026?

Though if there's reported trouble with the downlink output of I901...

It's not jus the Freeview UK Satback & RTP C-Band transmissions that could be potentially affected, several radio stations in the Republic of Ireland & Northern Ireland currently use the bird for feeding their FM transmitters (as well as the Icelandic IP service, presuming it's sill running). If Intelsat have nothing lined up to replace I901 in this position, then I'd expect a good amount of notice to be given by Intelsat to these customers to find other solutions.

I wouldnt be at all surprised if the satback service got discontinued at some point. Its a vast lucury expense that really isnt needed these days. The transmission system is robust enough to withstand a few failures - look what happened when Bilsdale tx got destroyed last year - all they did was put a temporary mux on 28E to feed the replacement tranmitters.......

And if some tiddly flea powered minor tx serving 6 people and a million sheep loses its primary feed for a few hours well so what.

While there's definitely an element of commercial confidentiality regarding it's overall cost, I'd doubt it's costing the Beeb a huge amount to keep it going at least at "vast luxury" expense levels given what I'd assume would be the transponder rental at 27.5W compared to 28E, not to mention also using BISS1 as encryption to keep rights holders sorta happy. The Bilsdale incident, while obviously catastrophic, at least occurred where it has significant overlapping coverage with other main UHF transmitters, and has favourable local terrain where few relays are needed - were something similar to happen in a part of the UK where things weren't as simple, things would have been, or will be, more complicated.

11609 V,6531,2/5-Siminn TV has stopped?
I'm unsure about the message displayed, but Siminn TV has stopped broadcasting in IP-over-Sat on 27.5W(?). I hope I got the message right on this stream, which is still active. The radio stream is not working either.
Is anyone on this forum who knows more, or at least enough Icelandic to understand the message correctly?

11609 V,4165,2/5,s2-Pid 512. The three IPTV services work with the same parameters except for the new symbol rate.

Although my card is not suitable for receiving Packetizer or Modcode, its "behavior" is interesting
if LOCK is QPSK ( bitrate 3MB ), partialy processed data,

The Siminn TV stream is no longer being transmitted. Only radio streams are working, and Premier League matches when they are broadcast.
There are six Icelandic radio streams on 228.5.6.7.
I used the 6903x card with neumoDVB, and fortunately, it can lock and listen to IPTV on the mux-116019 V,4165,2/5-with a low symbol rate of 250 Ks.
Also, the radio stream is on 11696 V, 500, and 8/9.

Siminn TV from IP address 228.5.6.8 reactivated faster than I thought with the same IP-over-Sat/DVB parameters on the same mux,11609 V,4165,2/3, S2.

Another device, besides dvb cards, to run the Siminn TV stream at 27.5W is the Ayecka SR1. Eumetsat users use it to capture weather images from the EumetCast service.
It is also valid for MPE streams, like this IP-over-Sat/DVB.
Maybe it's just a coincidence, but when testing with Ayecka, I found that the video stream, i.e., 228.5.6.8, does not work in the morning.
