Hi everyone

i held a pansat 2500a receiver,
a golden interstar (gi -201 platinum x) lnb
a 2 m dish.
With this equipment can I set up UK fta channel FROM Brazil???

Thanks a lot

Its not possible to get any of the channels firing into the UK in Brazil.

If there arent any suitable channels on your local satellite service then you will have to do without.

BTW - moved to another section as this is irrelevant to Freesat.

The best you can do if you have a good internet connection, is to get someone in the UK to set up a Slingbox for Freeview channels and then you can watch TV on your PC, or on your TV using a slingcatcher.

How good would the internet speed have to be to have uninteruptable tv? Would it have to buffer like those live feeds? Would it be possible to have the same quality picture and the same size as on the original tv? Thanks

The faster the better. Ive tried it on a 350-400kbps upload and its hopeless for viewing long term.

It could be the only solution indeed, but maybe it's a bit difficult to have a good adsl connection in Amazonia:confused:

It seems no UK channel's broadcast in South America from any satellite operator; while European satellites are really out of beam, for our oversea mates.

However, I read years ago of mr Klaus Schumacher, who had good results with an 8 meter dish in Rio Negrinho (Brasil).
I can't find the old article to enclose here, but I've found two videos about on youtube:

I hope these may help :-DOH2

hello, i saw this and wanted to info you.
the sling box would be the way to go.
it has a small buffer about 10 seconds.
there is hosting co in the uk that will sling free view to you.
i tested the service and they are slinging at a rate of 1.5 meg to 2 meg.
they have no limit on bits per month.
you need a internet at a good fast speed in brazil.
if you have 3 to 5 meg/s it will work like a champ.
most internet will do good down load and slower upload.

here in italy we have 256k up and 7 meg down but the 7 meg down is realy 3 to 4 meg.
we ran the sling using the bbc 1 and itv from the uk hosting and it was runing between 1.2 to 1.5 meg/sec and it looked great.
i took the output to the tv and got very good picture.
to set up the sling at a friends house may not work too good.
i heard that bt and others may limit transfer per month and at 256k to 500k per sec the quilty may not look so good.
these hosting service have fiber optic and high speed upload and will give you good results.
some may offer dvr so you can record the shows and watch them on the weekend.
use a search and look slinghosting uk and there should be 2 or 3 that do this.
hope this info helps
ralph:)
