My Vu+ has scanned the 4 transmissions in. :D

The programming really isnt very exciting though!

Ive inserted a screen grab into nano's first post as this section requires them.

Very interesting how they divided it up. I presume it uses 4 separate encoders? Wonder how it would deal with different bit rates and whether quality in each corner would differ!

..Yep ..just logged a few snaps of all 4 corners of the UHDF transmission..
I guess if you can afford the high spec cars they're broadcasting ...you can probably afford a suitable TV /receiver ..with the small change you keep in yer offshore bank account..
cest la vie

Its on a loop - about half hour long Id guess.

Paris 2012 was mentioned on one screen I spotted

With fast CPU's ..4 x receivers ..with 4 hdmi outputs ..each set to to display the relevant PID content...and 4 x 60 inch HDEF LED/PLASMA etc set in a 4 screen display matrix ..as is done at concerts ...you'd have no problem displaying a full image ...
Picture frame TV's with little or no edge surrounds ...would make for a very impressive 'crib' wall display 'purrrsy magnet' ..as would the cars..
lol..

I used to have a cardigan that was a pussy magnet. The cat loved it.

UHTV really is going to put a lot of companies out of business, just like that 3D gimmick.

Besides LG have just launched their organic screen to the public (currently 1080 format only ) , maybe a last ditch attempt at flogging off old stock

..quite straightforward, but how would you sync the 4 receivers? ;)

If you can afford 4*60 inch plasmas you can afford the synching :D

You are of course quite right ...but one would assume the broadcast data is presynced to coincide ..and assuming 4 identical receivers ..and 4 identical length hdmi leads ..plus 4 indentical display units/monitors ...
the resulting matrixed image would be more than adequate ...responding each to the pre-synced signal..
Time delays/discrepencies being minmal...such that the human eye wouldn't notice..
Of course ..on a dedicated system internal syncing between 4 demux units on one multi stream ..would give perfect results ..
It would be interesting to see if it could be fudged using the method I outlined earlier..
Ok ..of to watch Prof Coxs stargazing event now ..
c u later..

...Nice ideas guys ..but I suspect you may need extreme cpu power and a lot of memory to handle all 4 moving images at the same time ..which is why 4 independent receivers to 4 displays may give acceptable results..
A mid range PC often has trouble with 1 1080p image ..
2 would struggle unless your pc has high end ..
4 would almost certainly push a domestic pc to the limit ..if at all possible.

not quite.. I can watch all 4 fluently (at a reduced scale of course ;) ) and almost in sync on a laptop. It's progressive and that seems to suit a pc :D

Came up with what I thought was a brilliant idea to at least see 2 sections side by side ..but hit a problem ..
Used the F15 selected to top left ...and hdmi out to my LG plasma ..hdmi input 1
Then connected the openboxs9 to the looped output of the F15 ..and hdmi out from the S9 to hdmi input 2 ..on the LG ..then used split screen PIP mode ..
Got 2 seperate satellite images on screen..side by side ..perfect ..UNTIL I tried selecting TOP RIGHT on the S9
No way would it output a picture ..
Tried substituting the Skybox F3 instead of the openbox ..
Nada ...
Quite simply neither the openbox S9 or the Skybox F3 is 1080P capable ...so ..
In conclusion ..I need another 1080P capable box to attempt this experiment ..but am convinced it would have worked ..
Perhaps someone out there can do the business ..assuming they have 2 1080P receivers...sadly I don't..
Doh!!!!

Nice ...
But I wanted to see te effects of running 2 UHDF images side by side on the same TV ..
..not downscaled ..
Nonetheless ...well done Blindfaith...
;)

Some pics ..of what I was attempting
Aaarrrghhh
