Hi Guys,

Firstly, sorry if i have posted this in the wrong section but i wasn't sure where to post it.

I'm helping set up a TELE System - TS9000 TIVU for a friend of the family and i'm running into a few problems when searching for channels. The smartcard has been activated and i have checked that on the TIVUsat website. I have made sure that its pointing to Hotbird E13.

It can find all the Rai channels and i think most of the premium channels. The only channels that it cant fine are the Mediaset channels (see pic below). I also searched with the transponder range of 11919 Vand it only found a few polish channels.

Any ideas? I'm sorry for the lack of technical details but i'm a bit new to the satellite world.

Many thanks,

Vinny

You may need to add that transponder frequency to the receiver and scan the channels manually.

Hi thanks for the reply.

I did an initial scan with the All transponders (its default) with TIVU+Free-to-View channels and it finds loads. But not the ones i listed in the opening post. I then scanned with 11919 V. If this isn't what you mean then sorry, i think i misunderstood.

How would i be able to add that transponder to the receiver?

Again, thank you for the reply.

You need 11919V 27500 2/3

Its working as Ive got Rete 4 on fta at the moment.

There wasn't an option to search 2/3. It just had (V) and then carried on to the other ranges.

Don't understand why you got Polish channels apparently from that TP - there aren't any on it.

What are the names of a couple of those Polish channels?

(I'm wondering if the LNB settings are incorrect ...............)

I think it was something MTV Polska, i'll be going round tomorrow so i can update the thread then. I was thinking that the dish could be slightly out but i doubted my self when she was able to get Rai and all the other channels.

Bingo!

You need to find the Menu for LNB settings and ensure Universal or Universal 1 or Universal 9750/10600 is selected (It cannot be correctly set right now)

What's happening is that the LNB isn't picking the High Band TPs and is stuck with the Low Band Local Oscillator of 9750.

So, instead of the desired frequency 11919 being downshifted by the high band LO of 10600, you are actually seeing real frequencies of 11919 -10600 + 9750 = 11069 MHz.

And MTV Polska is on 11075 MHz, which is sufficiently within the bandwidth spread to ensure lock.

Couple of button presses and all will be well.

I commend it to the house.

When i did the initial search for channels after a factory reset and it found all the Rai channels and others, but not Mediaset.

I looked on this website - -http://www.lyngsat.com/hotbird.html and did a search for Rete 5, Chanal 5, etc on the website and it was under the 11919V TP 60 section. So i then did a search and it only found the Polish channels and not the Mediaset ones.

Just correct the LNB settings as advised at Post #9 ............... simples.

(The factory reset probably reverted the LNB settings to the wrong ones for your LNB - You do have a modern Universal LNB, don't you?)

The main RAI channels are low band, the Mediaset channels are highnband. You will find the lnb high setting is wrong on the box.

Dont forget theres a load of other RAI channels, plus a couple of new Mediaset channels to find as well. The latter are on 11013H

She said that the LNB is about 3 years old max. I'm sorry i dont know if this is what you call a modern one.

Cheers i will try again next time i'm there.

So to summarise, search on 11013H for the Mediaset channels and Universal for the Rai ones?

Sorry if i'm wide of the mark. Ive never really had to go in depth, when i have done it for my parent's its just worked.

Thank you for all the help. : )

LNB = universal. (or if theres no universal setting 9750 / 10600 with bandchange at 11700)

RAI extra channels 11766V 27500 and 11804V 27500
Mediaset extra channels 11013H 27500

There are also plenty of regional channels, but beware if there are young kids present, many of these show nudity from fairly early in the evening, some of it reasonably explicit.

Yes, you're confusing two issues.

So:

Step 1: Factory Reset

Step 2: Find LNB Settings and select Universal

Step 3: Scan all

Done.

Thank you very much! I'll try this as soon as possible and let you know how i get on.

Have a look here:

and see if there are any extra Italian channels they might be interested in - there are DOZENS, but most of them are pretty low budget :D

This is was one of the first things i did and it didn't find the Mediaset channels.
Sorry, i didn't make this clear in the opening post.

Oh and if they like sport make sure you find the two free RAISport channels :D

It would have done if you'd made the correct LNB settings.

Everything you report points to them being wrong.

See explanation at Post #9.

Also, Analoguesat has independently arrived at the same conclusion.

EXCEPT: If you are 100% convinced you did select Universal, and despite that reset again then select Universal and you still have the problem, it is just possible that the LNB itself is faulty.

Replacements are very inexpensive.
