Unable to receive HD picture on Sony HD TV

I am unable to receive a picture via a HDMI cable using a Sony Bravia HD TV.I have got a NANOXX Alpha HD satellite receiver and the video resolution on the Sony is automatic.The HD transmission is on 3739H SR 26590 on the satellite 68.5 East Pas 7/10.(Lyngsat MPEG 4HD)
What puzzles me is that on a Non HD TV i receive a picture as well as the Sony using AV.I had the cable tested and that is OK.
Is it possible for the transmission to be in both HD and Non HD at the same time?Any assistance will be appreciated.

Are you able to test the receiver on another TV or vice versa on an HDMI cable?

I too have a Sony Bravia. Have you tried altering your external inputs via the tv set up menu? I.E. Menu - scroll down to External Inputs - select - then select HDMI 1 (or 2 or 3) - ,whichever one of these you have the receiver connected to should say "Sat" Press ok and wait a while and it should work.

Just another thought, my Vantage has an sd/hd switch. I'd check to see if your receiver has one too.
