i have a 1m dish pointed at thor 1w and am trying to get canal digital and looking at the lyngsat i should pick it up on t2, t1 is out of my range i can pick up digi tv and other conax channels just wondered if anyone could help me out here all my connections are good my dish is new the lnb is a few years old could a new one help my problem cheers

You are bang on the 52 dBW Contour for T2, which means it should be an easy catch for you, as a minimum of a 50cm Dish is required.

So why Canal Digital is a problem, I'm really not sure.

Have you set the LNB Skew correctly? My calculator shows it should be 9.89 degrees (To the West, of course!) for a Milan resident.
 
cheers mate i dont fully understand skew i just point the lnb downwardward and wait for the sat meter to buzz how do you alter the skew plz
 
If you look at the LNB you will see that the top surface of the casing has a graduated scale of some sort on it. It should be fairly obvious which is the "centre", or Zero Skew, position.

Once the Dish is aligned as best you can manage, slightly slacken the collar holding the LNB and rotate it anticlockwise to the 11 o'clock position, then see what effect that has upon Signal Quality. Make small adjustments to achieve best reception on both Horizontally and Vertically Polarised Channels. Tighten up gently.

What you are doing is accounting for the fact that the Satellite is not due South of you so you need to adjust the LNB so it presents itself in the optimum "attitude" to the incoming signals.

It can be crucial ................
 
cheers for that at the moment am picking up digi tv at 98 percent which is high but this is on 1w and canal digital is 0,8w so i can lose a little on 1w to gain on 0.8w hopefully also you say 11 o clock is that looking face on to the dish thanx for the help

Looking from the LNB towards the Dish.

I know some people prefer to give guidance based on looking from behind the Dish, but I find it more natural this way.

The 0.2 degrees of Azimuth really shouldn't make much difference, even with a relatively narrow beamwidth Dish such as a 1m.
 
am looking into getting diablo cam thats why i want canal digital just been looking and i am pickin up channels of thor just not canal digital i dont pick up bbc either which am told is one of the strongest do you think i could do with a new lnb as the one iv got is from my old dish thank you
 
Well LNBs are cheap as chips (or Pasta!), so one wouldn't go amiss anyway.

What LNB is it?

I mean, is it a Ku Band Universal, or is it so old that its provenance is lost in the mists of time?!

BTW, BBC World is on the T1 beam, so whilst it is massively strong in the UK, it's out of area for you.

As far as I can tell, only Thor 3 and Thor 5 T2 are within your grasp.
 
its a sharp universal got it about 5 years back i have got a good quad on my other dish but that runs sky plus looks like my mistake am picking thor 3 up not 5 although i should get t2 am not am out of range for the good stuff thanx for the help
