Hi all,

I have all these remotes (and more somewhere else), which is just too many.

2017-04-14 11.17.47.jpg

I keep losing them all over my man-cave and would like to replace them all with one. Can someone recommend one easy to use, easy to operate (hold, button feel etc.) and easy to program - especially given the amount of equipment in use.

I don't need anything too fancy - certainly not touch screen but somewhere middle of the road. Maybe a Harmony or some sort of Logitech? There are too many to choose from so wanted some first hand experiences...

I have a Logitech harmony 745 they sound good in practice but the reality is I don't use it anymore, in fact I can't find the dam thing.

I still keep going back to my original remotes.

The only thing I can suggest is a simple one for all type with just up down channel/volume.

My one 4 all I use it on my hi-fi as the original quad remote is well over £80, so it stays in the sideboard draw, unless the one 4 all can't control that function.

The one 4 all gets hammered all the time, that's mainly the volume buttons.

Found a picture of mine it's a 520

Eats batteries like they are going out of fashion, and it has a warning beep, that's to tell you the batteries are low.

I am on my 4th Harmony now (not because they break, but because they are amazing)

Currently using a Harmony Touch downstairs which controls pretty much everything, think I have 6 devices under it's control

It has a built in lithium Ion battery and sits on a very handy charging cradle / dock

In the upstairs we still use a trusty Harmony 650, which is not touch screen but still an amazing controller

I would not be without mine

It's an AV receiver, which I just use as an amp. Most buttons don't seem to work as I think it's the wrong remote for the model I have!

Well....just make sure the top is fixed securely if you're trying to blend cooked tomatoes......

I would go with a Harmony remote, the web site configuration page takes all the guess work out of trying this button to see if it works or not.

If you can find the right settings then you can contact their support, they will find it for you and send you an E-mail with a link to the correct download for it.

I have several of them (different models) I hit one button if I want to watch TV then all equipment that is needed to do that is turned on, if I want to listen to the radio or watch a DVD then I hit another button and it turns the AV receiver to radio and shuts the TV and satellite off, for the DVD it would leave the TV on then turn the satellite receiver off and then turn the DVD/BlueRay on.

And my Sister even has one, and shes a blond, one button control keeps me from having to go over and set things up right so she can watch her shows.(My Brother-in-law is smart, he has his own TV setup)

So in my opinion I would go with the Harmony line.

Agreed, I have two Harmany Touch remotes, by far the best, bit of a pain to set up but once done they are the business.

Do any of the Logitechs have a learning function? I have several very obscure remotes for HDMI and AV switches etc. Looks like I would need 3 or 4 Harmonys to replace my current 23 remotes.o_O

If you use the 650 which can control 8 devices, you only need 3 units which cost about $40 each.
There might be another model, obviously more expensive, that can control more than 8 devices.
Check all the models in this link
