I have come across this LNB from GTSat
THE GT-PFS40
_http://www.gt-sat.eu/product_9.htm
It has its own prime focus feedhorn.
Their single LNBs GTSAt LST40 and
GTSAt LST40B gave results outperforming Invacoms and Invertos.

So I am wondering about this.

2 problems though
--how to attach it to a primefocus dish other than by buying a Boss
--no idea of its f/D ratio

Any ideas

I called GTSat in Luxembourg about the F/d. They said that it is adjustable between 0.5 and 0.7 because of its long neck.
I find this unbelievable because F/Ds of prime focus dishes all seem to revolve around the 0.33 to 0.43 region. So I shall get in contact with them again to try clear this matter.
On the other hand every LNB is supplied with the adapter, to fix it to the arms.
There is a similar LNB made by MTI worth investigating.

If you are referring to MTI AP8-TFE, I have email from mti saying that their lnb's work between 0.6 - 0.7 ( which like GTSat is also strange ). The MTI AP8-TFE is aparently similar to Fuji prime focus universal LNBF (SSI-T20). Both have been mentioned in previous threads.

It would be very interesting to compare either against the invacom.

An f/D above 0.6 for a prime focus is highly unlikely.
So I assume they are all reading the same erroneous spec sheet.
This info is wrong. No designer would make such a mistake.
I shall suppose that the f/d of these LNBs are acceptable and get one to try.

I agree. About the mti, there are 2 : ap8-tfe and ap8-tft and the only differences I can see is that the ap8-tfe has one extra ring on the feedhorn and quotes a max gain 70dB, whereas the tft only states the minimum as 65dB. Perhaps the extra ring indicates a different f/d ?

Hello!Good Enening:)
looks nice!
intresting, would be,the difrents in signal of incacom lnb feedhorn and this, incacom,is in my opinion easyer to adjust manualy, without the use of screw.to fix it on one scew postion, invacom prescision feedhorn, has a winding inside, and,i can select the f/d ration from 31-to 41,manually turning, around to the right number!
most of the antenna manufactors,do there job,not very well,if you not modifeized, your lnb holder streps, you have no psiibility,to optimeizred the signal, only, the MWO Antennas, from germany, was in production, during the ddr time, has on the backside,of every strepholder a scrw, for fineadjusting, last year,i bought in germany a modifized Kathrein Cas 180 cm antenna, from the german cable operator martens,
OEM Made,by prescision Uk,if i rember right?
prescision still exists,on the market, are also bought by andrew?
my antenna has been modifizeid, this way, what i describe, above, i can make, the lnb streps shorter,or longer,on the backside, because, there is also a winding, inside, that makes this posible, the same, option,i have ,also in the lnb holder itself, for finadjusting the same way, nice to play with it,but you need a lot of time ,and always a screwdriver!

Yes here we go again for the 100th time...

I am getting a bit tired of his threads to be honest.

I think Prodelin that you should keep such comments away from the forum.
Surely that you are entitled to your opinions.
Give you one trick though: if you see one of my threads do not open it.
I promise you that I shall not be missing your replies.

ehm, I don't know what if any problem there is ... but getting back to something more interesting :
I have just bought and tried an MTI AP8-TFT.
Some first impressions :
- it comes with it's own lnb holder ( triangular for 3 legs ). No use to me but nice to have I suppose
- it has a protective cap which is nice as I have been having some problems with spiders lately. The even nicer part is that I didn't notice any signal change on my meter with or without the cap
- it costs 16.5Euros
- lastly but not least, I am getting readings higher and better than anything before compared to an invacom twin, an invacom quad and an mti ap8-tw which I have tried on the same dish. dBuV, BER, SNR are all better.
I've made some measurements on 2A, 2B, 2C, EB South & Fixed if anyone is interested, but I assume they make more sense only when compared between lnbs. For example 11778 : 89.1 dBuV, 1.6E-7 BER, 13.4dB SNR, 0.1Mhz frequency offset.
- I had to remove the inline amplifier I normally use. This worked fine for the other lnbs but when used with the mti it destroyed the signal quality. Maybe it's getting too much signal from the lnb ?
- I have a feeling my long cable run is adversly affecting the mti more than it does the other lnbs
- best results seem to be just before the dishes focal point. So the 120-121cm focal point becomes 119-120cm.
That's it for now.

Wow buddy, I am overwhelmed.
The amplifier of this LNB is good and does not require the line amplifier.
Bravo

did you get it from this address?
_http://www.shls.gr/sproduct.aspx?proID=7309

I have not been able yet to find a shop for it, as I was considering the GTSat.

the TFT refers to a 40mm neck
the TFE has the slender 23mm neck

Well no I don't "need" the amp, I could live without one before mti also. But, now it seems I can't have the amp at the same place as before ( close to the lnb ). I suppose I would have to cut the 50m cable run somewhere in the middle ( I won't though ! ). As it is, I'm getting 13,4db SNR at the lnb and 12.3db at the end of the 50m.

I think you've got it wrong there.
TFT:

TFE:

I can't figure what the difference 'actually' is. Maybe it's a marketing trick to get us to try both ;) :)

The cable effect is in the IF intermediate frequencies 950 to 2200 mhz. If your cable is well shielded against interference you should not lose snr. Using 120db cable will reduce this problem drastically.

However there could be attenuation and an amplifier could be used to reduce it only if really needed. Because amplifiers add noise, unless they are very high quality and expensive, they are better avoided.
