Hello there mates...

I Have a dragon cam, i think the old one, and here is its picture.

dragoncamsmall.jpg

On its back, its says:

P/N: 8105/2004/002
Rev: 3.02

When i insert it in my STB (Strong 4820) it says firecrypt 1.1

My question is:

Is it usefull anymore, is it upgradeble, and what channels does it open???

Please explain in details because i am a total newbie...

Hi Rabba,
all you need to do is update it the dragons firmware using the latest Predator 3.20 file.

To do this you will require either a Fun card 7, available for around £10, or a PIC dragon loader card and of course a card programmer.
Can you please post back with details of any card programming equipment you have. You should also read the howto file, located in the Predator folder.
Best wishes

Thank you Mickha

Where can i find a card programmer?

Do i need a card with my cam to open channels?

Hi Rabba,
once the Dragons firmware is updated it will open all available channels without the use of a card, but can work with legitimate subscription cards. You can get a Fun Card 7 from most satellite dealers, as for a programmer, it depends how much you want to invest, and on your computer?
I personally use the Infinity/Phoenix USB, which requires a dedicated serial port on your computer to program in Phoenix mode, which you may require in the future, if rumours are true, but will program the Fun 7 using just the USB cable, you can probably pick one of these up cheap, on the net, as they are a couple of years old now.
If you want to spend more money you might want to have a look at the new Infinity USB, or the Adteknik, both of which can program in Phoenix mode using just a USB cable, or you might want to have a look at the new CAS 3, which has a wide variety of uses, including programming cards, changing/fixing Cams and now apparently programming blank cards.
The choice is varied as is the cost, if you know anyone, with a programmer, you could try using theirs, at first, or if any member lives nearby they may program your loader card for you, until you get your self sorted.
Best wishes
Mickha
