Unknown smart card error.

I have a Humax 5400Z pointing at Hotbird and have just bought a Sexview Plus Irdeto 2 card from Satellite Superstore. When inserting the card I keep getting an unknown smart card message.

Is this a duff card or is the Humax faulty? Any help would be appreciated.

If the Hummy 5400 is patched it should work OK. If the hummy is not patched you will need an Irdeto cam, as the Hummy in question does not come with irdeto EMB.

My dish is temporarily set up at the moment and not receiving a very strong signal, although FTA channels are clear enough. Will this affect the performance of the card?

The Sexview website mentions that it soemetimes takes up to 4 hours for Irdeto cards to be switched on!?! Is this the case or should it work straight away?
