Upcoming Launch of Thaicom-9

Thaicom 9 will be positioned at 50.5 degrees east to reserve the country's orbital slot, due to expire in November.
It will be a broadcast satellite and the company aims to expand its footprint in the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

Hmm - according to the second link the orbital slot expired last November. If so why is NSS5 operating a Thaicom promo at 50.5E?

If the slot reservation had expired they would be operating in violation of ITU regulations.

The Bangkok Post story is too old (2012)!

Thaicom 8 will be launched in 2016, to 78.5°E, Ku-band only.
Thaicom 9 will not launch before 2018, and according below recent story, will go to 119.5°E.
