My current sky hd receiver has been getting a few we can't play this recording error on my planner recordings or on demand downloads recently.

I think the hard disc might be on its way out.

It's a 640gb western digital av hard disc in my receiver.

My question is do you still need to format the disc with that copy+ software still or can I just put in a new 1tb disc and away I go.

Or is there still some fiddling about to do?

Hd box is a dx785

thanks

We have had that - try a planner rebuild first.

Although it didnt work the second time - the caps in the psu were knakd.

There is not a DX785 Sky box - do you mean a DRX780? If so it is getting rather long in the tooth now and is it really worth putting a new HDD in it now as the forthcoming software upgrade will probably slow the box drastically.

Also note it is not copy+ software that you use nowadays on the Darwin/Picasso software boxes (it is only usable on the old Thomson HD+ boxes) - what you need is ExPVR and I am not sure you need to prepare the HDD for your box or not.

Yeah I am going to try this later, it's random as not all recordings seem to be affected.

Oh and just had to google the new way to access the install menu

"Services button,0,0,1,select" on remote

Pop the top off the box and see what state the power supply caps are in

Yes it's the drx780.

I have been looking to buy a new box at some point but not sure what to get.

if I call sky the 2tb box is gonna cost me loads unless there is an offer on, I've never had a free hd box off them, my box I bought off eBay years ago.
