Thanks Llew, Jin replied on the 14th Jan that tracking number would be sent soon so looking at your order details my tracker could be with me in a day or so's time. I can't progress with the servo motor for polarisation project until i physically have the feed & lnb in my hands. I'm just eager to get cracking Llew

OK John, have to say all TP's are horizontally polarised on D Band on 5E, 7E and 16E (ignore my last screengrabs, I forgot to change to H in Crazyscan)

It will be interesting to see your servo setup when you get it up and working

No problem Llew, as you say all documented band D stuff seems to be Horizontal , but i was took in by the V/R indication on your Crazyscan plots for 4.8E .
I love a challenge, so to tinker and play with some kind of polarizer gadget might come in use for future sats that might use both polarities one day ?? , we'll see .
As i type Llew, Jin has just email informed me that the units will ship either today or tomorrow.

.... forgot to mention in last post, because my Ka dish is at high level it's not easy to keep getting the ladders out to faff about with lnb, so having some sort of rotatation control will ease the situation.... also, give me some control to adjust skew a tad depending what sat i'm looking at.

Evening all,

If you bypass the bandpass filters in an Saorsat LNB, keeping the LO at 21.200G that would give you existing 20250 to 19450 coverage with high side mixing, and 22150 to 22950 with low side mixing. Disadvantages will include image noise due to the removal of the BPF, but just for a test its probably worth a try. ( I have a modified Inverto here with external LO input for exactly these tests). The IF stages of the Inverto's are pretty good, and provide gain from about 600MHz to over 2.5GHz.

For polarisation, due to the use of the septum transformer, if you drill that out, you are left with dual linear polarity, you would have to physically move one probe round the board by 90 degrees, possible but probably messy. For experimentation, you can use the typical 1/4 wave depolariser slab in the waveguide.

congratulation! I tried this several times...

Only "NO LOCKED" here with DRO LNB and signal gone again.

First time I noticed 21563 H 1249 was on 28.03.15, according to "KA Band satellites in Europe" list.

An odd one that. I had it as 'No Locked' before it dropped out a few minutes ago. Clicking on it when it was active gave me a perfect QPSK constellation at 10.3 dB, but it didn't show parameters.
