USB port

Sky plus V3 and a 50 inch plasma screen.
My Location
Cairo, Egypt
Dose any one know what the USB port on the back of the new Sky+ box is for? Can't find anything about it in the book.
 
I don't have plus but if it is anything like the rs232 on a skybox it is probably a dead port
 
The RS232 isn't dead on the standard Sky digibox, it is now used for the Sky Gnome. :)

Perhaps they have similar ideas for the USB port on the new Sky+ boxes..

Thanks for correcting me on that Rolf yes I had forgotten about the Gnome
 
No, don't think that will work, as the Sky+ also records encrypted.
 
Yes, of course you are right, wishful thinking on my part. I might plug just it in and see if anything pop up on the computer. I won't do any damage to anything, will I?
 
It shouldn't do any damage, but. . . . . ? :D
 
ive also tried to use the USB but didnt work..

Another quickie.. i tried to record something off my sly+ box on to my VCR.. wouldnt get a picture through scart... and thus recorded with a black screen... i RF'd it and it recorded fine.. But RF is shyte.
 
Have you tried it from the TV out Scart on the digibox?

Yes tried all combinations didnt have it this is a pace 160 btw..

Got another sly+ 160 im going to get that out and try it :)

Was the ouput set to RGB by any chance? If so try setting the video to composite and trying again.

Did it work. I've got an Archos AV 500 and was thinking of plugging my 160 box into it via the USB device socket.
 
Sorry, haven't done it yet. the lap top is at the office and I haven't been there for a few weeks and i don't feel like moving the P.C into the other room. I will get around to it though.
 
Robby did you finally pluck up the courage to plug your Archos into your plus box USB?
