USB Problem

I have a small annoying problem with my PC. Each time i remove a USB device from the USB port on my PC and then re-connect it, It always reinstalls the driver for that device.

Any ideas what is causing this ? I would have thought it should remember the drivers for each device after they have been installed once.

It should do Chris, but doesn't always, particularly if you have had any Windows updates since last using. I had a problem with my Ipaq, sometimes after disconnecting and then reconnecting, it wouldn't recognise any USB devices, unfortunately including the mouse. :-lmao

Have now moved it to the other PC which has no problem. :)
 
you could try restarting the machine with the device connected,this should preserve the settings,or, the device requires 3rd party drivers that are not 'signed' and reinstall on device detection. read windows helpfiles on 'driver signing'
