Use an actuator as a TV lift?

If it can be done, I'm planning on using an actuator and some kind of switch/ remote as a TV lift as my TV will be in front of a projector screen so need to hide it when I'm using my projector.

I've seen this actuator and this remote on fleabay. Can it be done more cheaply? Ideas, suggestions and comments much appreciated

Don't know about more cheaply, but you still have to design the sliding mount mechanism? Googled TV lifts and found hiddentvlift.co.uk doing lifts starting at £186 + vat, but it all depends on size of TV, of course.

That actuator will only lift 20kg over a maximum of 30 cm - is that really enough?

They do a more powerful actuator but the limiting factor(for me) is length of the actuator whether used horizontally or vertically as the unit it'll be housed in needs to be useable under the TV/ actuator for an amp, which makes vertical more applicable, short of housing the actuaor horizontally and perpendicular with some fancy metalwrok/ gears... Fleabay Germany has some slightly cheaper TV lifts.

The system I've used in the past is a short (12") but large low geared (36v) actuator in a scissor lift mechanism. The gearbox and worm lie horizontally , no more than 100mm from the floor. The pivot point can be adjusted to suit the weight of the TV and the speed of the lift.
