Used script to scan 28,2*E (I drink beer but dream scans all the frequencies, measures signal levels and puts them in the table). Right column shows frequency ans signal level from 1,8m antenna. Left column not mine.

Friend of mine gave me zap_to_every_transponder.sh, so when this script started it scans all frequencies on all satellites and creates report like I showed.

You bet. Can not upload zip file. Go here
http://files.inbox.lv/ticket/d3ca733c6155d8b9edd8c8fe58c6e4c48337dfd7/zap_to_every_transponder.rar
Click Lejuplādēt (mean download)
download it, unzip, FTP to /usr/script
than start from Telnet window by typing /usr/script/zap_to_every_transponder.sh
Script will start to scan. After scanning 2 files will be created in /usr/script
zap_to_every_transponder.TuneFailed and zap_to_every_transponder.TuneOK_131005
where 131005 -date of creation.
Also possible to scan not all satellites but only some of them. Will write how to do it later.
My friend's name is MartiniB (registered in many sat-forums, not here) and he made this script by himself (what a guru!) He does not mind if I share it to satellites.co.uk members.
I've said to him that plugin wold be easier for users, but he is much better in scripts. Enjoy. Tell some good words if you like it.

Add: do not forget to give atributes 755 to file zap_to_every_transponder.sh

I see that script is downloaded 5 times.
So to change satellites to be scan just put # in line 118. Remove # in line 119, than only Astra 19,2 will be scanned. If there is need for several satellites just write in line 119 like this 282|192|130 than script will scan 28,2*E, 19,2* and 13*E. Enjoy.

I must admit I downloaded it to take a peep at how a shell script for a satellite receiver was coded. Sadly I don't have a Linux based receiver. Maybe one day...

In continuation of this eutelsat28A/Astra2F issue made some measurements today:
First, tuned antenna to Eutelsat28A and measured signal strengths on all frequencies. Than, pointed antenna to Astra2F and, again, measured signals on all frequencies. Data put in the table. Conclusion- if pointed at Eutelsat28A than lose about 1,26 (average) dB from Astra2F's frequencies, but win about 2 dB on Eutelsat28A frequencies. If antenna aimed in the middle than signal strengths will be somewhere in the middle.
Not so dramatic as I've stated yesterday (Saturday is better than Friday).

I threw your measurements in my number crunching machine together with my own
measurements and this is what came out:
There is a perfect correlation between differences in signal levels and the beams.
The figures are averages for all transponders on each beam but min. and max. values
differ a single decibel so the average is representative for each transponder.
(Beam names from Lyngsat, negative values mean my levels are lower)

Southern Europe & Europe: -2,0 dB
Northern Europe: -0,6 dB
Super: +2,0 dB
Pan Europe: +4,6 dB

My dish is aimed at Astra 2F so I used the left column in your data.
I have a splitter that feeds some test equipment so I expect some additional loss
from that but it should not be frequency dependent.

Satellite images were made with a Canon 7D and a 100mm / f2,0 lens.
A really stable tripod and a remote control is a must. The important part are all the settings
to minimize noise and hot pixels. Light pollution can make things even worse and the final
editing can remove some but not all imperfections. Did I mention that focusing is a bitch?

This script doesn't work for me...... it executes but doesn't appear to find anything on 28.2E and 19.2E (my fixed sats - 2 dishes) and doesn't create any files.
Any ideas?.. and Yes I run an Enigma 2 receiver!

Hello,
Where can I please download the latest script version from?
Does it scan one selected satellite or a rtange of satellites? Is it possible to limit the scan to 2-3 satellites or to a certain frequency range?
Thanks.

Anyone interested in seeing this as a proper E2 plugin written in python that outputs an xml file?
