I have made a post here a while ago about my DM800 not working. Well its still not working. Motor is perfect, LNB is perfect, on about 25m run of coaxial. Yet the motor wont turn or power up from the box yet it works when on the ground.

I now assume this is lack of power getting TO the motor itself. Which is why ive looked at the v-box. Do you think this would help me?

I have the Moteck SG2100 motor, 25m coax, uni lnb 0.5, DM800 box.

Thanks

The v-box is for a 36v motor, it's not for a diseqc motor. You'd need to run a power cable to the motor. 6 core I think.

The SG2100 is a DiseqC motor, so he doesn't need the v-box or power cable.

Thats right mate, but he's suggesting using the v-box because his motor is not working.

thats exactly it.

My motor works when on the ground, on a short coax run, but when on a 25m run it doesnt seem to have enough power going from the DM800 to the box. there is an "increase voltage" option which is already on in the menu. Is there any way i can get more power up to the motor if i can't use the V-box?

Not that I know of mate. It might be worth a phone call to the guys at satellite superstore, they are very helpful and very experienced. Stick a .com on the end of that company name and you'll find em.

Sounds like a volt drop problem. Try a different cable, a good quality one, it has be something like CT100 or RG6U for satellite. Check all F connector terminations are in good order, or just cut off and re terminate.

I provided the installer with around 45m of PF100, and he said that his stuff was better and he has used Kontrakt (while putting my cable in his van!). Ive never even heard of it.

Well PF100 is about as good as it gets, I have heard of Kontrakt before and I think its RG6 spec, it should have the spec stamped on it.

I have about a 30m run of RG6 down to a DM500 with one joint in the cable without a problem. Also a 20m run of CT100 to a DM800 via a VBox, I do get some interference on the 19E NME transponder caused by the VBox.

I get no power supply problems but I am only powering the twin LNB, the motor is 36v via the VBox
