Vbox 500 problem on dm800

Hi all

I have a vbox 500 positioner running off my dm800,

The problem is it keeps going on stanby all the time.

It used to work fine its just this last while when I am flicking through the channels it will go on stanby mode and will not come on again until it is turned on by vbox remote control, where as it used to come back on when dm800 sent signal to move dish:confused:,

now it just gives the odd flicker on the screen when selecting channels,

my dad has got the same setup as me which gives no probs( which I set up for him), ( so I am thinking faulty vbox)

Has anybody else had this fault

I have spent a few hours this eve playing about with positioner,

And have noticed it only goes on stanby when i go on Horizontal channels,

it works fine when I go to vertical stations,

I'm puzzled :confused:

Yes I agree, presumably your Vbox is controlled via diseqc commands from the stb, have you checked the settings for those horizontal channels, it sounds like a command is not being sent to the Vbox, but I could not hazzard a guess as to why.

I have checked settings on my dm800 and everything seems fine,

The other thing I have noticed it only happens when i go from a vertical transponder to horizontal.

If it goes on stanby on a horizontal station then i turn the vbox back on I can go to another horizontal o.k and the vbox will stay on.

The problem seems to be when it is changing from vertical to horizontal .

Could be a problem with the voltage output of the DM800.

If you have two setups try swapping the two receivers, that will show what the problem is - DM800 or vBox.

I will take my vbox to dads house 2 moro and see how it runs,

I hope its the vbox not the dm800 , but i have a feeling its the vbox,

If so it will be the smashed box :) its been driving me around the bend.

We'll see what happens,

Hi all

I took my vbox round to my dads house yesterday and let him use it all evening and it never missed a bat,

So thats that ruled out,

But when me and dad first got are dreamboxes we ordered 2 new HD lnbs,
My dad had to take his off and put his old lnb on because he coulndt receive horizontal channels through the new HD lnb ( for some reason ).

My lnb is different from dads as his dish is prime focus,

But would it be possible my lnb is playing up aswell on horizontal ,

Well I was not aware that there was such a thing as an HD lnb or is this yet another sales ploy to make people spend unnecessary money and change them?

What make and model of lnb are you trying to use then.

Took the dm800 round to my dads house and it was doing the same thing there.

So the fault is on my dreambox ,

Is there anything I can do to sort this out ,

I would have said send it back to where you got it from I assume it is under warranty still?

There is a service available for repairs, perhaps someone has a contact available or you could search the Dreambox section.

Yes the box is still under warranty I have only had it a few months,

I was hoping maybe a reflash or something like that would have sorted it out.( something easy:) )

I will contact the sat place on monday and see what they can do.

I will be lost without my dreambox
