My Satellite Setup
Motorised Technomate 1500CI+ looped through SKY Digibox, 80cm Dish

Hi

I can only get east satellites 42E - 5E. Thor on 1W is very bad quality (about 42%). I cannot get any satellites to the West (trying to get 30W).

I'm in London with an 80cm dish and a DisEqC 1.2 motor. The dish is on the roof so I don't think their is anything blocking the view to west satellites.

Do you think the guy who installed my system set it up on a mount that was not vertical? I hear that I should see 30West with 80cm.

could be the mount is not vertical or that the dish has moved out of alignment with it being on the roof

does the dish need to be on the roof as do you have a clear line of sight lower down ?
 
Most neighbours have their Sky minidishes on the roof. A few foreign neighbours have larger fixed dishes clearly not pointed at Eurobird hooked onto fences so it might be a possibility - not sure.

Would a dish that has moved out of alignment still be able to pick up 42E -5E?

I think you could be right in that the mount is not vertical but the guys who installed it have drilled into my brickwork, thus cementing their bad workmanship!
