Also BabyClanger, if you are unable to get the dish to a rough guide as indicated in the attachment, then turn the elevation bracket about face, assuming the motor inclination is correct [certainly looks it anyhow] you should get the correct dish elevation.

Ignore what any of the markings indicate, you need to get the correct declination as shown.

This is turning out to be a right Sods Opera!! LOL!!

But i'm still hanging on in there. So, had a quick chat with another FM, and i've turned the bracket between the dish and the motor pole to the opposite to what it was...... View attachment 32890

and (at no particular angle) re-fitted the dish........ View attachment 32891

does this look any better?

Bingo!

Looks it, but you do need to apply a tad more elevation as a starting point for 1W.

If you can, take a perfect side shot and upload it.

I must admit, it does look as though it will work fine upside down. In the other thread we were told that turning the bracket round made no difference....go figure!!

Doesn't alter the fact that the dish should really pivot about a central point between the two bolts. All the dishes I have here, even the really cheap one I got from a DIY store do.

Edit : Actually I've again read the 'other' thread and the OP doesn't say that he changed it back to the original set up. Maybe he got it to work 'upside down'.

You maybe able to mod the bracket by drilling another hole moving the pivot point which should allow the correct declination which ever way round you install it, [that is if you cannot get a setting somewhere in between the two]. The bottom line is, the dish face needs to be roughly as indicated for a latitude of 51° I would say.

Bingo Indeed!!! One is with Thor!!!!
Bending the Level scale at 97 percent and quality of 68 percent.

Who'd have thought that turning the bracket upside-down would be the way forward!!
Just going to fine tune now. :-thumbup

I do wonder how many people have bought one of these kits and (without this collective forum knowledge) have given up and binned the lot? At the very least it needs an extra slip of paper in the instructions to explain the mount may need fitting upside down.

Yes, good point. Akin to the dodgy skew problem with the FSUKVN and Icecrypt LNBs.

Daunting enough trying to do a first motorised install without additional curved balls.

Thankfully sensible folk like Mr.Clanger ask on Forums!

Mind you, having a few difficulties is often very educational and aids overall understanding - just so long as the punter is persistent and doesn't end up chucking the lot in the bin!

Is it worth writing a sticky for this dish or is it likely to be a rare problem?

Strewth!! I'm exhausted already!! Mega thanks to Chris76 who played a major part in all this and not forgetting everyone else who chipped in with the goodies - all your help is greatly appreciated!! That said, i don't think i would have been able to have done this without actually talking to someone about it all. :-thumbup

Everything looks as though it is behaving itself nicely and i'm just scanning and searching to update the TP's and channels on the sats as i was missing some channels on EB9 so i thought i'd re-scan the lot!! A re-scan took it up from 12 TP's to 33!! In retropsect maybe doing the factory reset on the TM box wasn't a too brill an idea, but what the hell - thanks to you lot, i got there in the end.

So, once again all, many many thanks for all your input. :-Cbigsmil
