I found two channels on this frequency on my Fortec Passion - one is a test card.

Although not that new (06/12/07), I thought I'd try for it on the Fortec Passion HD, as it needs a receiver able to resolve MPEG4.

Hi Llew, if you are in the UK, i'm interested to know how you are getting these Russian mp4 channels on your Fortec passion on 40E, because the only thing i seem to get from it from my location is TV Ukbekistan. I've got a 1.1m dish and i'm getting a 92% signal strenght on tv Ukbek. I get no signal whatsoever on 10994V 20000 3/4. Any ideas?

You won't get a signal showing scanning those channels on that transponder unless as I said you have a receiver that can resolve MPEG4 transmissions (most HD receivers).

Hi Llew, i do indeed have a mp4 receiver a "Fortec Passion HD" and this is why i asked the above question because i cannot get a signal on the mp4 channels from 40E.

OK, I'll check it out again with mine. Strong signal here in East Anglia last time I looked.

Strange business this. You're right, I too can't get any signal off these now.

I was able to open this TP at the time, as the menu in the pic for that satellite list shows here. All channel pids were listed, and I was able to open all except HD Test.

If they had been FTA MPEG2, I'm sure Flysat etc. would have noted this at the time.

PS. Sorry for the poor quality, Using a cheapo PCI card for video in.

You bet it's strange business! In your screen shot only TV 01 - Ukbekistan appears on my channel selection list.. Could it possibly be that it is only during certain times during the day that these russian transponders become available over the uk? What is everyone else getting? surely there must be an explanation to this head doing problem.... If i don't clear it by Monday, i'm taking my fortec HD back to maplin!

Well, I tried my Humax HD box just now, no go with that either.

As you say, must be open to all only certain times. Maybe special events like New Year! When's the next Russian holiday

The really weird thing is these HD programs are being transmitted on the Wide Europe beam from this bird. According to lyngsat, http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/eam1_wideeur.html this should booming over the UK! Need a few more people to try it out!

BTW, my mrs is Russian, thus why im putting extra effort in resolving this

Llew what version of software are you using on your fortec receiver?... just checked mine and its version 1.04. Maybe i could flash to the newest... but not sure if i'm taking it back to maplins yet.

I have switched on power search in settings.

I'm attempting a scan on 10995V 20000 now. Can you confirm if you need to change any other parameter in Advanced scan i.e DVB standard, modulation, FEC... cheers!

I'm using 1.07 now, a couple extra sats were added since the last version, plus multifeed for the Premier channels. Shouldn't make any difference to the scanning of 40E compared to 1.04.

I just used the basic scan, 10095 20000 FEC 3/4, not Advanced.

Weather very overcast compared to when I had the full channels showing last time. Has to be a weak signal on that TP; if you want consistent reception, a much larger dish seems the only option :mad:
