Via Access 4 - Cam question

Hi,

Sorry if this is a really silly question, however to me im not so sure. I used to have Al Jazeera back in the VA3 days so bought a Via Access Cam. Now im thinking about getting another viewing card, however not sure if I can use the same cam? I know that the cards are now VA4, but will my VA Cam that I have actually work with this VA4 mode?

Cams are old technology now and I suspect the VA3 will not have sufficient storage capacity to be re-flashed with VA4 indeed that may not even be possible as manufacturers really want profitable sales not unprofitable upgrades
 
Is there any way of finding out what version is on my cam? I notice the external label just says Via Access.

How easy / hard is it to flash one of these things - if possible?
 
Well inserting it into a CI slot on a compatible stb then entering the cam menu should indicate the current version of firmware
 
The cam info is as follows;

Cam sw ver: 1.1.1
Cam hw ver: 1.3.0
Loader ver: 3.1 sequence 001
ACS sw Ver: 463-2.1.2.11-broad
Cast-64-retail

Does that mean anything to you?
 
I know you would think that was logical - however they seem to just say "we're unsure" - hence why I thought I would seek the help of you guys. Can I reflag my cam with the latest firmware?
 
One reply I've just had is they are unsure as works on some old cams and not others. Does anyone have a cam with that firmware / software like mine running such cards?
