Last Month my ViewSonic PJ656 Video projector stopped working. I could hear an 'arcing' noise under the Lamp cover, and the lamp LED stayed On. Looking back through the lens I could see the reflection of an orange Arcing coming from inside the Projector bulb.
Assuming a faulty lamp I looked for a replacement which I am told is a RLC-13, but on it, it says 70Volt 180W. From the size of the orange arc ( > 5mm ) I was certain that the voltage going to the bulb is at least 1000v. Is the projector power supply faulty causing the bulb to blow, or is there a simple explaination why the bulb says 70 Volt but there appears to be greater than 1000 volts being supplied to it ? Due to the expense of a replacement bulb, I am afraid to purchase, and fit a new one, until I know the answer !
Help.
