My pre-historic Hummy is still working fault free but, as is common, the Remote has become somewhat unreliable.

Over the years, I've dismantled and cleaned it a few times, but several buttons eventually became iredeemably non-functional.

So, despite knowing they are reputed not to be programmable for operating TV, DVD, Audio, I knowingly bought a cheapo clone one for under a fiver.

As expected, it performs admirably for all the Hummy functions and, of course, I did actually try to get it to work with my TV. But, neither the published codes nor cycling through the stored codes worked ......

........ However, in a last ditch effort, I started manually coding from 001 upwards and, lo, at 006, my TV turned Off!

Wouldn't turn on, though

However, once turned On by other means, the clone Remote happily performed every other TV function eg Volume, Source, Channel etc.

Well happy :D

I had a similar issue with a Panasonic television and a generic remote, the solution was to press the standby button (or any of the number buttons) several times in quick succession. Presumably the generic remote only sent the code once per press instead of repeating it when held down.

I'll give that a whirl once SWMBO has finished her hour in charge of the telly :unsure

Try turning the TV on by selecting a channel such as 1.

Done that - and much else.

The only thing that works without fail is asking herself to use the dedicated TV Remote

Why not ask here for an official Humax remote, I have ditched quite a few, including the 2000 version which I've found since is very rare.

Your profile doesn't mention the model you are using btw.
