Ah I see whats happening - we get the UK version of the Viva website.

I can see the original German version from a Finnish IP.

The important bit:
"Bis zum 30. April 2012 werden alle analogen Sat-Kanäle auf digital umgestellt. Viva ist ein bisschen früher dran. Ab dem 1. Januar 2012 ist Euer Musiksender Nummer Eins ausschließlich digital zu empfangen. Bis dahin solltet ihr also fix prüfen, ob Euer Satelliten TV digital ist, sonst solltet Ihr Euch um einen neuen Receiver kümmern, um weiterhin Viva gucken zu können."

To 30 April 2012, converted all analog channels to digital satellite. Viva is a bit early. From 1 January 2012 is your number one music channel to receive solely digital. Until then you should also consider fixed, if your satellite TV is digital, otherwise you should you care for a new receiver to continue to watch Viva.

I really hope Viva stays FTA, love that channel, much better than the English version. It's exactly a year after MTV.

It seems, but these three channels will be the last that switch off before general ASO on 30th April.

VIVA DE is s*it now! Everytime I turn it off, it shows some stupid and old MTV programming, not music. Dreadful.
And what a channel it was 15 - 10 years ago! Can't even compare.
