VoIP across two-way satellite: how well/badly does it work?

My Satellite Setup
Freesat FTA, two dishes pointed at 28.2E, 1 with quad LNB and one dual LNB feeding one Panasonic DMR-XS380 and one Samsung S7800 with spare feeds for one other room.

As above really, I was helping a customer with an application I support and we couldn't get it to connect on one particular version but it worked on the other (which is completely encrypted from server to client endpoint so appears as a TLS traffic stream to traffic management)

I found out who his reseller was and thus that Astra2Connect was used and the service provider marketed VoIP support as extra.

He was in the middle of North Yorks.

I pointed him to the info but said I was not 100% sure how well it would work as others I've seen in places like the Republic of Ireland advise against using VoIP across the link.
