Hi, A VU+ DUO 4K SE could be good.

Can it get MultiStream?
Can it does blind scan?
Can this have two tuners in it? DVB-S2X + DVB-T2
Does it have a CI+ slot? *

* The manual lists CI slots, but not CI+ slots, which is surprising.
Code:
https://www.vuplus.de/_files/ugd/46aad9_ae7c35bb6e7a4b4f8b499edafdbc9e5f.pdf

If it can tick these boxes then I am happy.

For info, I have 4 x LNBs ( 28.2e 19.2e 13e 5w)

Any help most appreciated.

VU+ home site provides a lot of information:
Code:
http://vuplus.com/sub/sub0119.php

From what I remember, reading about it, Blindscan comes via the image, but appears to be limited, compared to more specialized receivers, for finding feeds.
Providing you have the correct LNB you should get most features:
  • Advanced tuner system for any possible tuner configuration One FBC tuner supports 8 demodulators. Two slots make it 16 demodulators.
    • Slot A: FBC DVB-S2X, FBC-C V1/V2 and Dual T2(MTISF) Tuner
    • Slot B : FBC DVB-S2X, FBC-C V2 and Dual T2(MTISF) Tuner
    * FBC-C V1 Tuner can only be connected to slot A.
The one big problem might be lack of support, as VU+ don't appear to have done much, since the Covid problem.

Hi,

I will never use FBC - it uses a unicable and I have a 4 x LNBs into a switch.

Their web site was pretty unclear about the CI or CI+ slots. Fransat dropped CI and moved to CI+ a while ago.

Same for the multistream.

It's vague :(

Usually I would advise you to use the websites support option, but I doubt they'll reply. You could do a google search, for particular CI+ cams, to see if they are compatible, with VU+ receivers, and which images work best, with those cams.

Hi,

VU got back to me today!
Unfortunately the VU+ 4K SE does CI and not CI+ which means could make Fransat CI+ difficult ( we back into unsupported by Fransat hacking again). Means I might drop VU+ from my search because I am concerned thay I could lose the French channels after they encrypt the multistream transmissions ( standard was ratified so only a matter of time) but won't have a working Fransat card. But there is a report here of it working back in 2017 with a Fransat CI+ Fransat on vu+ duo

From VU+
"Hello, Duo4k is no longer available.

DUO 4K SE: Can this have a DVB-S2 card and a DVB-T receiver in the 4K SE at the same time? => yes

DUO 4K SE: Are the CI slots version CI or CI+? => CI (with VTi CI+)

DUO 4K SE: Will it do a blindscan? => yes, manual search is possible

DUO 4K SE: Can it receive multistream transmissions? => yes, with last software

All available information: Vu+ WIKI Satco Europe Mit freundlichen Grüßen"

Of course, did the VU DUO 4K do CI+ ( suspect not). Also the discontinued VU DUO 4K SE does have three physical tuners in it.

for CI+ will be used enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-ciplusinstall or enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-ciplushelper

Is there a combined DVB-T2/C tuner that I can put in the spare slot? I saw there used to be one made for the old DUO.

e.g

Does this work?

I do not suggest you to use combined tuners.
I just sold a Duo4KSE last month configured with two different tuners: DVB-S2X FBC tuner in the slot A and DVB-T2 in the slot B. It perfectly worked.
Not the best receiver for blind scan you know.
As I know, someone got good result with an official Fransat card putting the right image or the right plugin in the box, but I do not know more details about that.
Surely you would gain CI+ installing VTI image, maybe Fransat could work?

Hi,

I will install a Vti image.

Why do you suggest not to use combined tuners?

How bad is the blind scan?

It seems that the combined tuners are worse in performances compared to specific tuners.
I did not made any test on myself, but other people confirmed this.
Also, I do not understand why you want to install combined tuners. As the box includes two slots, you could prefer the same configuration I had in my receiver.
Keep in mind that the S2X FBC tuner is a double one, so you have two real multistream satellite input in addition to 8 virtual tuners.
Also, the DVB-T2 tuner is a double one too, although it has just one physical input.
So you could connect 2 dishes and 1 terrestrial antennas, but you have 2 tuners in the terrestrial band too.
All FBC tuners are not ideal for blind scan, not only in Vu+ receivers.
If your goal is blind can, maybe Octagon SF8008 could be a better choices.

Hi,

Many thanks for the informative reply.

The Octagon SF8008 is my second choice, but the VU+ had a CI slot. If it were not for Fransat, then I would get the Octagon SF8008.

> All FBC tuners are not ideal for blind scan ...

What is broken with the VU duo 4k se blind scan? Does it actually work or crash?

I'm using the VU+ DUO 4K SE among other receivers (Octagon SF8008, VU+ DUO2 and Vantage 8000S).
The DUO 4K SE with the VTI image is the better one and handles Multistream and CI+ (using it for Tivusat) without problems. The tuners (sensitivity) are better than the others on the DUO 4K SE.
The Octagon is a good one too but since it lacks a card slot it's use is more limited.

What are you using the Vantage for ?

Why does your SF8008 have no card slot ?

I'm only using the Vantage connected to my "breakfast TV". Nice to be able to watch the news when I'm eating my breakfast (or lunch/dinner).
I should rather say the SF8008 has no slot for a CA module (which I'm using for Tivusat).

I seem to remember someone posting about a recent update by Fransat to prevent their CAM & cards from working in non-official CI+ receivers. No idea how successful that update was or if there's a workaround.

It has not got a CI slot.
It does have a card slot, which I thibk is for xcrypt. Unless I mixed the receivers up.

I would wish to bring the Vantage 8000 here out of retirement, the front panel is superb and the picture quality was somewhat better than receivers of the era. It was a slow machine though and awkward menus.
