I need need a new remote as some of the buttons I use regularly are needing a much harder prod. Whilst the others work fine. It's only lasted about 12-18 mths, it's the original remote.
I don't want a genuine remote as this may well go the same way.
I only need to control my sat box. What about the Logitech ones? Is anyone else using one of these?

Nothing wrong with the original ones mate, you sometimes get defective ones, i think you have just been unlucky. By past experience these all in one type remotes only ever emulate the main controls on the remote, theres usually one or two buttons that dont work with them.

You can get an original Vu+ remote from world of satellite.

VU+ Duo Duo2 Solo Uno Ultimo Genuine Universal Remote Control

If you have that many issues with the original one it may be worth contacting Vu+ themselves, you may get a free one out of them as i'm sure they would be interested as to why their remote has lasted such a short amount of time.

I have three original VU boxes and two of the three remote controls have failed to some extent. And the third box where the remote is still working well doesn't get used much.

But the replacment remotes I've bought cheaply on the net haven't fared much better.

You're not watching enough tv then ;)

I've picked up one of the old style vu remotes today, we'll see if this Lasts any longer. I didn't want to be left without one over Christmas.

Have had my VU+ Solo for about six years now and the original remote is still going strong. Think I've only had to replace the batteries a couple of times..

I could only see you having issues hitting the buttons too hard if you had hands like this :D

Ive gone through 3 new style VU remotes, and everyone of them started with the silver round buttons failing and having to press really hard. Never had a single issue with the mk1 remotes that shipped with the solo/duo/zero.

I got sick of shelling out so as a last ditch effort I ordered one off Aliexpress. £13 delivered and works fine. There is obviously a QC issue with the new remotes though, they are lucky to last 12 months.

These are the ones I have had issues with: VU+ Duo-Duo2-Solo-Solo2-Uno-Ultimo NEW STYLE Genuine Universal Remote Control

I don´t think the problem is with the remote, your either watching the wrong programmes, thus using the remote far too often to change channel, or watching the right channel and pressing the buttons too hard:D

The silver button failed on mine too.

Fingers crossed the mk1 remote fairs better.........
