Hello everyone. This is my first post here wearing a new hat.
Just wondering if anybody has a VU+ SOLO 4K receiver.
I have a VU+ SOLO SE V2 and I am quite happy with it. The Solo 4K has the advantage of FBC Full Band Capture tuner which means it is possible to record many different channels at the same time from different TP's as the receiver has basically 8 tuners with the option to add a standard VU+ dual tuner card making the total number of tuners 10.

10 coax cables connected to a single STB will be a piece or art :-lol

I have one but i dont use a Unicable/Satcr/Jess LNB with it just standard at the moment, with a standard LNB it gives you the extra tuner options but to be perfectly honest i have not tried any recording or similar to see how it performs (Enough repeats and +1 channels on UK TV not to warrant recording)

Thanks digi247. What is the advantage of using Unicable LNB instead of standard LNB if I can get all 8 tuners working?

It should let you tune 8 different frequency's/TP's so you could record 8 channels etc.. i believe you have the option to assign the 8 to either tuner A or Tuner B

Thanks again digi247.
I think each FBC tuner gets a maximum of 4 tuners so Tuner A gets letters A,B,C,D and Tuner B gets letters E,F,G,H.
The extra tuner card gets letters I and J.
My current receiver with dual tuners let's me record all the channels on the same TP for example if the TP has 8 channels then I can record simultaneously 8 programs and the same with tuner B, but I can't record anything else besides 2 TP's at the same time.
I still don't understand the advantage of a Unicable LNB

OK. I did some research about the advantages of Unicable for VU+ SOLO 4K.
My understanding is that it will let the user select 8 different transponders independently of their frequency bands on the satellite.
The frequency bands are listed below:

VL Vertical Low 10.70–11.70 GHz
HL Horizontal Low 10.70–11.70 GHz
VH Vertical High 11.70–12.75 GHz
HH Horizontal High 11.70–12.75 GHz

With a standard LNB connection, only different transponders on the SAME frequency bands can be selected for viewing and recording, also limited to 8 transponders, if you are lucky.

Of course you can record any channel on any transponder that can be selected. This means, using unicable, if each selectable transponder has 8 different channels then theoretically it is possible to record 64 channels at the same time.
Sounds crazy I know, but this is what modern technology can do these days.

From what i can gather most Unicable LNB's are single ouput so you connect to Tuner A or B and set the other virtual tuners linked to whichever input you have the Unicable LNB attached.

Dont quote me on this but in total you can have something like either 10 or 13 tuners.

After giving the SOLO 4K some consideration, I think I will pass on using a Unicable LNB.
It can be very useful to use for one satellite without a DISEQC switch.
My current setup uses a DISEQC switch connected to Astra 1M 19.2E, Eurobird 9E, Amos 4W and Nilesat 7W and the output is just one cable. A second larger dish pointing to HotBird 13E uses a Quattro LNB with 4 cables going into my living room. The 4 cables connect to a multiswich with 4 outputs so I can operate 4 different receivers to watch HotBird.
With the SOLO SE V2 I have the DISEQC output cable going to tuner A and the Hotbird cable going to tuner B.
At the moment if I am recording anything from Amos, then all the other channels from Amos, Nilesat, Astra 1M and Eurobird are not accessible.
Can the SOLO 4K helps me to access other satellites while one channel is recording on tuner A?
I can't really see how this is possible since the DISEQC switch is locked into position for the channel being recorded.
Tuner B should work well creating four virtual tuners but without Unicable it can only record transponders on the same band (LV, LH, HV or HH).
I am trying to avoid making any changes up the roof as it can be costly and in my location I know a professional installer who has reasonable prices, but I doubt if he knows how to install a Unicable LNB. I will check with him next time I see him.
A nice new setup would be to replace all 5 standard LNB's with Unicable LNB's, get rid of the Quattro LNB and the DISEQC switch and make use of the five cables already running from the top to my living room.

Very informative and interesting conversation so far, but because my brain is not wired like most, I have a slightly off topic question

Hello everyone. This is my first post here wearing a new hat.

What were your previous posts, wearing the old hat?

International Russian package on Hot Bird.

Well, it´s a start I suppose! From which I would assume that you and CJ may be able to converse with ease in an alternative language?

Here is a video clip about using a unicable LNB, cascadable unicable multiswitch with a VU+ DUO2 receiver.
It is in German, but I think you would love watching the cute model doing the demonstration.
