Is there anyway to watch a channel, RTL, and listen to a radio station, 5 live, at the same time. I know that you can use the PiP function to watch two channels at once, even though it's got an awful frame rate but is there a plugin that lets you watch one whilst listening to another?

Ah, the F1 season is almost upon us ................

I'm quite happy to watch in German but have family that aren't. Moan on when the football isn't in English!

Fergy, this has just worked for me but I suspect not for everyone. My two receivers feed into a switched HDMI double socket which feeds into my home cinema sound amp:

First I removed the HDMI feed from home cinema to the TV and replaced it directly with the HDMI feed from the VU+, set it to RTL and muted the TV sound. Then switched over to the motorised dish and DrHD, turned it to Astra2 and Radio 5 Live and fed the HDMI output to the home cinema. Result, RTL vision with R5 Live audio.

TBH it was a real faff on and I'll probably put up with the German commentary instead. I can get 5 Live on the car radio via Long wave but somehow I don't think driving the car into the living room is a viable option!!

I'd be surprised if German video / R5 audio is really viable without some sort of adjustable time lag. RTL used to be a good 3 seconds in front of the BBC coverage, and watching the pictures with the audio 2 or 3 seconds out is going to be a horrible experience.

They have got a 5 live radio (brother nicked it from me!) that was bought at a car boot sale for 20p. It could be turned on and put on the arm of the setee, was just wondering if there was a short cut plugin.

In F1 a few seconds difference doesn't seem to matter as much as football.

Is Five Live available outside the UK as a stream from the BBC website?

Yeah, I suppose using the radio plugin would be a good option

My experience with Radio 5 live outside the Uk is that they block access for much of the useful stuff. So you need to investigate the murky world of proxy IPs.

I could not bother with all that stuff so I now have a second receiver and get the satellite radio 5 broadcast - they haven't worked out how to block that!
