Watching Sky in Latvia

Hello, my first post for a while. We are going to move to Latvia soon and I'm keen to keep watching Sky (especially the sport! But also things like BBC and Channel 5). When I first enquired about this 12-18 months ago I was told that you couldn't subscribe to Sky, not legally anyway (I know there are ways around this) but some ads I've seen recently suggest that perhaps the regulations have changed? Can you now subscribe direct from overseas, or do you still need a UK address? :confused:
 
Well, here on Latvia you can't get official SKY UK subscription, only crappy Viasat subscription...
For BBC 1, 2, 3 etc. you need at least 3m dish, only BBC News , BBC Alba, Parliament and BBCi are available...

that will be going through an agent who will setup an address and get you a card.

it might be best if you have a relative that doesn't have sky and get them to subscribe for you in the uk etc
 
Aha right. Is there anyone else out there in Latvia who could tell me what equipment we'd need? Thanks!
 
If you subscribe to Sky now, just redirect your mail to a relative's house, or phone Sky and change the subscription address before you move, then take the box with you. If not, then buy yourself a secondhand digibox (there are couple of threads discussing which digibox is best for fringe reception) and order a card from Sky from the address of a relative or friend.

As Bite has already said, you will need a big dish to receive the public channels like BBC and ITV though.
