Weather Warning
Issued by the Met Office

Thursday 5th June 2014

YELLOW WARNING for RAIN for ENGLAND, WALES, SOUTHERN HALF of SCOTLAND and the EAST of NORTHERN IRELAND.

Thundery downpours are expected to affect parts of England, Wales and southern counties of Scotland during Saturday. The public should be aware of the potential for localised flooding due to the intensity of these storms, although at this stage the location of the heaviest rainfall is uncertain.

I have serviced my Wellingtons in readiness.
 
Sadly, this sort of weather invariably occurs soon after I've planted out my Runner Beans.
 
From the Met office:

"Warm, humid air will be pulled northwards from France and Spain late on Friday and during Saturday. Within this air mass, there is an increasing likelihood of heavy, thundery downpours breaking out. It is likely that many places within the current broad warning area will miss the worst of the storms, but it will prove difficult to highlight the areas most at risk until nearer the event itself."

The Event?! Sounds like we should remain indoors.

Just cut the grass 1/2 my runner beans have come up the other 1/2 been eaten by giant slugs :eek:
Found me wellies I may move the Gazebo to protect the dishes :)
 
Sounds like normal/typical pre-summer weather forecast for the northern hemishpere.

Peed down for the last two days with spells of thunder ( very welcome after 10 days of semi-tropical weather +28c and strong sun ) tamped down the gravel on the drive and tied up my broad beans:D

Sol put in the briefest of appearances post 5pm this evening ...and that's prolly the last I'll see of it till after the storms..
..and if that grinning fool on BBC news weather tells me once more how wonderful it's been for 'most of us in the UK' once more I'll blow a gasket..

I might need Rachel... as our boiler died yesterday! Aaahhh.... no power to it at all. Good thing we have a heating man arriving today to replace the diverter valve, so I'll have him look at the boiler as well.

Hope he deals with oil burners...

Let's hope he sorts it without the cor I haven't seen one like that before.
 
Erm.... It was my fault. While hanging the ladder in the garage after messing with my dish, I accidentally hit the power switch, which is at the end of the wall... oops...

Will cost a few hundred quid to replace the diverter valve though as he has to drain the system upstairs...

The landlord will be paying so I won't be out of pocket.

To be honest, when it comes to plumbing, I am a bit useless.. and rather scared of breaking everything completely! Water, gas (oil) and electrics don't mix well in my books.
