WF125 Coax

Location Kristiansand Norway.

I'm getting ready to dedicate my 1.5m motorized dish to a Digibox (Pace 2600CI, Invacom C120 Twin LN and need to run new coax from dish to receiver (plus a 2nd run for a 2nd dish so my wife can receive the local sat channels). The required cable run is 33 meters with about a half being an overhead run with a steel supporting cable.

Is it worthwhile using WF125 coax rather than WF100?

If I go for the WF125, I will have to use screw on F connectors as I do not have access to a crimping tool for that size - is there a significant loss using screw on ones? (Will ensure they are sealed with amalalgamting tape).

The difference in attenuation at the highest IF frequency between the wf100 and wf125 for a 33m length is approx 2dB.

I have also read elsewhere that theres no need to go to 125 unless the run is over 40 metres.

Having said that, I would probably go for the 125 anyway, the cost would not be much more (only double, but still insignificant, compared to all the other costs).

Most of use the screw on connectors anyway, the main advantage of the snap 'n' seal conns I would imagine would be the 'quickness' to put them on, and the fact that they're sealed?

33 meters is relatively not a long run and WF100 will be adequate.

I agree, WF100 would be adequate, but then again, a couple of db gain on a fringe signal is worthwhile having, I would personally use the WF125.

You will not see any discernible difference between a screw on and crimped or compression connector. :

WF125 has the possible advantage of having an outer sheath of polyethylene as opposed to WF100's PVC.

If I'm not mistaken it makes it less prone to UV light deterioration, although both being coloured black, I wouldn't think it would make much difference. Maybe it allows a little more flexibility, being thicker than WF100?
