What are tps autoroll files

I see these HEX files and HDF files in many places, I was just wondering
what the 'autoroll' refers to... Does it mean that it gets
automatically updated through the receiver so you dont need
to do it manually and hence work 'forever'?

Basically yes thats the idea. Its not forever though - if TPS tweak the encryption then the autoroll breaks.
