What is a CAM??

Sorry guy for my ignorance but i see that a lot of people speaks about CAM but I don't have a clue of what it is and what does it do??
Anybody could help on becoming less ignorant?

On this occassion I will tell you it is a Conditional Access Module which is storage device which is programmed with software allowing a smart card to decrypt scrambled transmissions for more info see here

basically its a sleeve like thing that the actual wafer card goes in... it kinda looks like a large PCMCIA card you use on laptops.

as you can see here... heres a CAM and CARD together ;)

note they dont all have the addition of the slot for sim cards like this one
