Following on from the other thread, i thought i'd ask others here were they bought their channel master 1.2 from?

I know of 2 places that sell in the uk, but being a tight arse i never like paying more than i should.

So wheres good for the 1.2 and polar mount?

Thanks

PJ

I live Bexleyheath, want to mount a channel master 1.2m on a pole in my garden. Could some one give me ideas on the highest I can go with the pole. I intend to mount on a 10 feet pole. Can some one please advice.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum I-and-I,
I have moved your post to it's own thread, as the one you posted in was over 3 years old and this should get you more response.
Are you planning on using a motor, on your dish, or is this going to be a fixed dish set up?
What satellites do you want to receive?
Is there a reason that your dish needs to be so high, or are you using a 10 foot pole and want to know how deep you should bury it for stability?

Hi, why do you want to install your dish on a pole ? I use to have a 1.2 metre dish in my old address secured to a concrete plinth I would think it was more secure to the weather
elements.

Thanks guys for your reply. I have two boys who play football in the garden. The kids next door also join in. That is while I want it on a pole. Also the pole is about 12 feet and I want to put 2.5 feet in the ground. I want to know whether the council will allow me to have it on a 10 feet pole in the garden.

The first good gale will have it over on a snapped pole unless it braced properly.

So do you think it will be too high? My pole is a solid steel pole. What will be the highest pole you will have on? I will motorise it with an actuator.

3 inch mast required but would need to be secure and braced as already mentioned.

ive had a 1m dish on a 7ft scaffold pole, i found i had to brace it with 4 wires to stop it flexing in the wind. after bracing i found it very stable and had no further problems,

The maximum dish size without planning permission is 1m. Sticking it on a 10ft pole would not exactly make it discreet, whereas lower down it would be.

The maximum height would depend on the diameter/rigiditiy of the pole of course. I have seen a 1m dish on a 10ft scaffold pole without bracing and it was swaying about too much. Might be alright with a larger diameter pole, I would go for maximum diameter that the mount allows, and with the thickest wall thickness that you are able to get hold of, see how it is, and if it needs bracing do that too.
