What is the maximum distance between LNB feeds

Hello,

I am a new member here, I would like to thank all for this great forum, am located in Finland, I own Gibertini 150 CM dish fixed indtalled to Nilesat 7W, with invacom quad LNB, I have another normal dish motorised and I can recived with that Eurobird2 25.5 E, but as I got now a big dish would it be technically possible to have multifeed on the Gibertini 150 and install another LNB to be able to catch the Eurobird 2, distnace would be around 34, if there is a soultion please guide me where to find this feed holder, as I would like to watch all the Orbit transponders with the help of the big dish, I have many of them but with small dish the sigmal is bad, and I canot install H-H superjack here is it goes to -20 in winter which I have been told that superjack motors will stop working at the freeze. Final thing what would you recommend a good LNB for poor signal.

No it won't work. Even on a multisat dish 34 degrees is a lot. A torroidal would cover that range but they are only available up to 90cm. What do you want to receive from 25.5E anyway. I thought Orbit were dropping those transponders.
 
Any LNB on the offset on a standard dish will perform worse than one at focus, the further away from focus you go, the worse it will be. Having the right holder for it won't help.

YOu say you can't motorise the 1.5M. Maybe there is a solution to make that possible, heating perhaps?

No transponders are working, in the search i get 120 channels, but the signal quality is poor, on some transponders it works ok, but i noticed a drop in the evening time and better in the morning sometimes if it doesnot rain, may be the problem is in the LNB as I have a universal 0.1 db LNB I wish you could recommend a good LNB for me, another option might be if I change the RF cable to a better one line 120 db or install an amplified as the cable is about 20 meter long. Any other suggegstions? Thanks

Thansk, does this apply to stong sats as well e.g. Hotbird, or only for weak ones, but I would like to know what is the maxim distance that might work? A strenge thing I saw once I was visiting Dubai and I saw the recive 4 birds on a small dish Nilesat 7W, Eutelsat 7E, Hotbird 13, and Arabsat 26E amazing how did it work? but the feed holder was semi vertical rather than horizontal
 
The rf cable won't make much difference, unless what you are using is not satellite quality.

I don't know if you are using an LNBF or a separate feedhorn, but the Inverto Black ultra works well for me, and gave significant improvements for fringe satellites.

Yes, the stronger the sats, the further apart you can have them.

How, far apart, is really a matter for your expirmentation, and trying to find the optimal point to place the LNBs.

I would tend to start close in, and then work your way out, until the signal is lost.

Hi, I donot know what is LNBF and FEED, am using for the motorized dish a Smart Titanium LNB 0.1 DB wich cost 10 Euors so I belive its niot that great one, may be changing it to a better LNB will solve the problem, I might consider buying the same one you recommended, but on the Gibertini I have bougth expensive one Invacom Quad, seller told me its the best for weak signals, I hope he didnot cheat me as it was dam expensive, I saw on the web some says the use feed (which I donot Know) for teh Invacom quad if the want to recive SKY UK in Spain or far places, would this possible in my case? shall I do it and it agive a better signal to Nilesat here too? Please explain. Thanks in advance

That's completely different. First the vertical spread on the LNB's is due to 7W being at 16 degrees elevation while 26E is at 46 degrees elevation. Anyway the difference is that the weak satellite (in this case hotbird or 7E) would be in the breech of probably a 1 metre dish where the antenna is focused most efficiently and the two 51dBW satellites (7W and 26E) are at each end of the arc. If either of those satellites were in the breech they would only require a 50cm dish or maybe even smaller given the weather in the region.

In your case though you need every bit of efficiency you can squeeze out of your system just to receive these satellites at all... and given the size of the dish it has much narrower beamwidth to the dishes you are refering to in Dubai.

BTW are you saying you are receiving 25.5E in Finland? Are you sure you don't mean 26E (Badr)? If so I am surprized because I can't receive it on my 1.5m all the way down here.

Which Invacom quad? C120 or 40mm?

In my tests down here, especially in low band (Astra 2D) the Black Ultra has been king.

Where are you located as I need to know does the Jaegr actuator works well if you are in a country that has freezing weather?and could you explain does the C120 do a differnt job with the feed comparing to the horn Invacom? Regards

Yes, you have an LNBF then, which means the feedhorn is integrated.

The idea of a separate feedhorn is that it can be matched more precisely to the dish, rather than an LNBF that is designed to work with any offset dish.

As for the Invacom quad, yes I have found that works well, when mated with a matched feedhorn, well it did on my Fibo anyway.

The Invacom ultra is a nice cheap option compared to the invacom quad plus matched feedhorn. Which works best on your particular setup? well there's only one way for sure to find out..;)


By the way,can just manage ONE tp off 25.5E here with my 1m dish, 11001V, seems the strongest.

Thanks, I will get one tommorow and see if the situation changes. So you think no need to change RF cables to the 120DB or buy an amplifire, as these are not the main issue here !

Indeed it is the strongest here its 51%, BTW are you able to get the Badr there? And how big is the your dish are you using teh Inverto you mentioned?
 
I have a 1m dish. Yes, I'm using the Inverto Black ultra, I can get Badr 4 only, not Badr 6. Also all verticals (I think) on Nilesat, 2 or 3 horizontals, more at sometimes in the year. I think Badr 6 may be possible on a 1.5m here, as I was very close on a 1.2m that I tried.



Cables are almost never an issue especially on a very short 20m run, unless the cable is complete rubbish, as already mentioned. Most likely if you put an amp on it, it would make things worse, as the amp would introduce its own thermal noise into the system. Amps are only necessary to overcome long cable runs in excess of 60 to 70m maybe.
