I'm need to install a freesat decoder but not sure if a second hand Sky plus one that I have been offered free will actually work.
I need to receive the free channels obviously but will it allow me to record onto it's hard drive even if I just have a single feed into it as I'm told I need to subscribe in order to do this.

Hi and welcome to the forum. It will receive the free channels, but to record with a S_y plus box you'll need to pay £10 per month; often referred to on these pages as the S_y recording tax.

Ah right, I wondered if that might be the case - thanks.
Any suggestion for a box other than Sky that I can record on? There seems to be so many on the market.
