The F/D is the focal length (distance from lnb to dish) divided by the diameter. You can check the focal length measurement by measuring the depth of the dish.

It is good to have the F/D of the LNB matched to the dish in order to be illuminated properly. That is the reason why an LNBF for an offset LNB isn't much good for you, as they are designed for dishes around the 0.6 to 0.7 mark. Prime focus dishes are usually less than that (but don't have to be!)

@Robbo
ok have got the F/D ratio: 0.38
so what will i use the value for?

Someone with Prime focus expertise needs to answer this one, Huevos??.

The invacom adjustable feedhorn falls within that range I belive, but as said previously, some say it's crap and 'eats signal'. Though seemed OK for those freqs when I used it last on a 1.8m PF,of similar F/D.

You may find a feedhorn that states its F/D, now that would be useful.

Fringe reception isn't an exact science. The best you will get off any site is a rough idea. And someday aren't all that accurate. Dishpointer is a mile out on some.

Not possible for extreme fringe reception.

Received signal strength can vary greatly over a few miles or km.

The best you will get is a general idea of what *should* work. You are far better off finding some local knowledge - we are good on this forum but we dont have much experience with reception in west Africa

2) Unlikely - you have already been told that you are well out of coverage area for Nilesat and will need a very big dish indeed to have any chance whatsoever of getting the channels off 7W.

hello,
ok your dish is a 1.8 cm prime focus.
your lnb is a ku band offset.
you would need a prime focus feed horn with a c120 flange.
then you need a lnb with a c120 flange to mate the two togeather.
you need to find someone in your area to see if they receive this mbc channel.
if no one in your town can receive this with a 2 meter dish then you will not be able to receive this as well.

hello
more information
there seems to be no c band on 7 west.
the signal reaches northern africa but no where you are.
you are at the gulf of guinea and the signal is too week to be received even with a large dish.
if there is anyone receiving this he must have a big dish 4 or 6 meters in diamater.

i do not know what the foil is for?
the c band will work with fiber because the fiber has metal in the paint that reflect the signal.
but no mbc on c band and nothing on nilesat 7 west.
there may be other c band signals in your area.

Go to google.com. Put c120 lnb into the search box, and click on the images tab. You will get any number of lnb pics :D

For Ku band signals buy a Ku type.

For C band signals buy a C type.

Hello
first of all this lnb is for c band reception.
the plastic plate is for circular poleration.
the plate changes the poleration to circular.
some satellites transmit on c band and some on ku band.
some c band transmit circular right hand and some left hand.
ku transmit vert and hors poll.
you set up will not pick mbc in lagos with your 1.8 meter dish at all.
if you were in nothern africa it would be different.
in order to find out what your system is good for you should find out from another satellite installer in your area and see what they are able to receive.
just like i can not receive USA satellites in Europe.
your supermak is for c band from 3.4 to 4.2 ghz .if there is no c band available in lagos then that lnb will be no good.
it would more than lokely require a 10 meter dish to receive this.
there was german man that built a 16 meter dish in brazil and was able to watch german tv from europe.
he was a electronic enginere
