My dad has recently got a new receiver - I'm afraid I don't know what make and model but I do know it has 2 CI's and that he has a dish with a motor to move it around. He also got a new LMB.

Apologies for sounding completely unknowlegable but I just need to know whether there's a good reference book that might help him complete his set up in the best way? I know he knows a little about satellite systems but he could do with something telling him the best cards to get, other peripherals and how best to set them up. All the satellite TV books on Amazon seem to be relatively old (some up to 10 years) so I doubt they would be relevant any more....?

Any suggestions would be very welcome - Thanks!

When you say best cards to get, do you mean subscription cards? as any other cards are almost obsolete these days and only fit for windscreen ice scrapers as little opens with key files anymore. It is all cams and emulators these day or indeed card sharing servers, but no there is no reference book only the forum for you to read, indeed that is why this is a self help forum.

Get your dad to sign up here, Or even just start reading to begin with until he has some questions, (assuming he has internet access)

He wont regret it. There is a broad base of knowledge among the members here, along with a good attitude. There wont be any questions he has that cant be answered. :)

Figuring out what to get is a bummer. I'd gladly pay someone to do it for me. ;)

This forum does not permit any questions or discussions related to opening encryptions used by the American providers whatsoever.

In fact discussion of the American TV providers is also forbidden.

Pleae bear these points in mind next time you post.

Thread closed to prevent further discussion of Nagra 3 in relation to USA pay tv.
