Good afternoon gents, for the last 8 years'ish I have had a mobile sim only deal from Virgin Mobile, it is long since a "legacy" contract (I.e. not available to new or existing customers) for £15 a month ( NOT effected by the bull cr*p retail price index yearly increase all networks operate now) I get unlimited texts, unlimited calls, 2 Gig data (Not the best by some today but still not shabby for the price either). More recently I have been getting texts from Virgin telling me I would be contacted by their "loyalty team" because I was such a loyal customer (I know, the smell of B.S. reeks from such statements). Today after missing a call several times before from the same 0800 number I took a call from said department, a very well spoken Indian/Bangladeshi chap, the speel was this take an Xperia X or some LG phone I never quite caught the model of and a free (Holy sh*t hate the "free" guff) tablet if I switch to a £16 tariff that falls to just £10 a month after 24 months. I very politely declined, when the issue was pushed despite me explaining my reasons why I was not interested (First and foremost the R.P.I. yearly increase I 100% do not agree with) I just hung up the call. Basically I have a good deal that suits me and their not happy they can't really touch me on it, tough titties Virgin!! Feels good to be winning when it comes to big business and their b.s., happy days [emoji1]

O2 can get a bit like that. But I did manage to get a loyalty discount on my current refresh plan.

I was with O2 pre the Telefonica purchase of them, post buy out there service plans were revised for the worse with a lot more of a monthly spend needed for the same texts, talk, data package sizes. I had free MMS's in my service allowance, I don't know any network now that offers such a service, granted the quality of the pics you can send via MMS is gawd awful but at the time people did send pics via the service, was pre WhatsApp etc days back then obviously.

Their what's called a virtual operator on this side of the pond, same idea as Tesco Mobile, who I left O2 to go to who used and still do use O2's network array lol

Well my o2 tariff is £10.68 then -£3 discount £7.68

That's 300mb 4g data
300 any network any time mins
300 o2 to o2 mins
Unlimited texts.
Pay for mms, but I use email mainly.

To get that deal I got them to generate my Mac code. That's what gave me the discount.

I also pay £20 a month of the phone plan.

Threaten to walk, to another network. But you would need to get to the customer retentions department. (Where the Mac codes are generated)

Virgin Media own nowt bar massive operating debt in their T.V. business due to years of poor management and decisions, will always be NTL to me, I.e. awful! lol

It's sad that Cable Access TV in this country became nothing more than second hand $ly, plain & simple mate.

Don't even have access to cable here, they're in the area, they just haven't put any cabling in along this street (not that it matters)... :-lol

Who's the operator there?

Who's the operator there?

VirginMedia, seeing as they own everything cable-related these days, long gone are the days of the independent local cable TV company...

True, they be scum lol

I still have a couple of modems and the last cable box (Samsung one, far nicer than their Pace older boxes) we had from them somewhere, the modems are quite funny as they seem to be single-use as they just say "We can't re-use them so just throw it away", shame really as they have decent guts to be useful as a mini web server (E.G. for serving a couple of small lightweight pages), buuuut, that's delving into black arts that aren't allowed here... :-rofl2

3 have pestered me a few times to 'upgrade' my PAYG deal from my 10+ years legacy tariff to whatever is current. I make a max of one call a week, never text and only use it for data. On my pre smart phone era deal I get 2.3gb for £5 a month, the latest upgrade offer meant I could save 36p a month on calls but pay an extra £21/month for the same amount of data.
