I thought I got rid of some CM LNB holders, but they are continue to pop up here and there ;). This one had rusted screws stuck in the brass inserts. Used diamond saw to cut them. Then took couple of M5 screws and glued them in the holes by 2-component epoxy glue. I think this holder can still be used. Would not mind this holder go to person who needs it for. Price- beer + shipping. :D

It's actually designed specifically to hold CM feedhorn, not an LNB. I am not sure if a 23mm LNB will fit there.
I agree. There are two rings, or lips, in the metal neck of the CM feedhorn.
These are designed to fit into a recess in the feed-horn holder and on one side, IIRC.
The 40mm plastic LNB holder includes two halves of a ring adapter with similar recesses that can hold the feedhorn, these plastic things are most often missing from an installation.

I can go and check your old metal holder tonight to see if it works with generic 23mm LNBs.

I just wander how that should work? Screws seem to be too long for standard sidearms made of tubes.

It's a straight swap on my 1.8m from plastic to this metal one.

I believe that is a picture of a early-generation holder.

I have a similar plastic holder where the screws penetrate "into the arms".
That came of a 25 year-old Channel Master 120 (the one with the rusty polar mount!).
The arms of that particular dish actually have holes drilled in that allows the screws to penetrate into the arms, much as the screw at the bottom of the reflector penetrates into a hole in the feedarm there.
The holes in the LNB-holder end are not present in my CM180-arms, or any of the arns for the other CM120s, so I am guessing that it was a design feature that they changed after a few year for some reason.

That holder is to hold a feed horn, I don't see any problems with the long screws, it there was just shorten them.

There's another explanation, though...

Most of the Rx only dishes we see in the second-hand market (with plastic holders) are type 120, meaning Rx only for Ku-band.
These come with the plastic holders.

Other types, such as the RxTx type 125 has a different type of side feed support arms, which attach to the *sides* of the metal clamp.

The feed-holder you show a picture of can be from a dish like that.

Went looking for metal CM feed parts in the garden house.

I have to admit that I couldn't find the metal feed holder.
It's in there somewhere, not just sure exactly where.

But I did find a CM feed-horn, and a 23mm universal LNB (Inverto).
Here's a picture of the neck of the CM feedhorn:

IMAG3282xmg.jpg

Also found my digital caliper(s). And a new LR44 battery.

The "neck part" (size A on picture) of the CM feed-horn is 22.3 mm in diameter.
The metal rings add to this, making it (size B on picture) 29.3 mm in diameter where they are.
For comparison, the plastic neck of the Inverto is 22.9 mm in diameter.

As the rings of the CM feed-horn fits snugly into the recesses of the metal holder, I conclude that normal 23mm feeds should fit into the metal feed holder.
The rings on the CM feed-horn adds keying and a fair bit of support.
A heavy, non-CM feed may suffer from the diminished support that the metal CM feed holder provides.
Nevertheless, as the holder is made from metal, it should still work.

But not with 40mm LNBs...

Feed arms st1, did you find anymore information on the ones you mentioned in the for sale thread, I like this design and will incorporate it into my mount.

I assume you mean the ones in the picture - no, i did not pursue the matter. But it was clear they were a custom thing from somewhere mid-USA. Never come across other references to them on the net.

No, I will charge 5 times less plus shipping (about 5 EUR... I think). As a bonus I can add couple of screws and washers from normal metal  (circled green). Can not find new holder (I remember I had one). But this is from my CM 1,8m antenna, has no cracks and looks fine.
hey chaps - @Captain Jack has very kindly sent me one of these LNB holders - however, I need two of the screws pictured in post 16 to screw the top part to the bottom part @RimaNTSS - anyone know where i can get / what the thread pitch is ?

I think they're just standard M6 size.
